A sleeper of an arcade-style game tends to sneak its way into the top 10 countdown each year. This time around that game is MLB Bobblehead Pros. As a downloadable title for $10 it arrived on XBLA in early July and was supposedly on the way for the PS3 also but that, for whatever reason, never materialized. Instead MLB Bobblehead Pros makes the list for arguably being the best playing baseball game available on the 360 in 2011.  (more…)...

Kicking off the year-in-review period is the second annual Pastapadre Community Choice Awards. Last year in no surprise NBA 2K11 walked away with the top honors while also winning all but one of the categories it was nominated in. This year the field looks to be much more competitive with no single title standing out from the rest of the pack in such obvious fashion. I have narrowed each category down to three nominees based on how they delivered on all (or the specific) fronts and the...

It was a year in sports gaming that had a couple really great offerings followed by several good titles that lacked significantly in certain areas. In that sense it was no different than any other year though distinctly more top-heavy. In the four years of doing a countdown of top games 2K Sports has now captured the top spot twice with NBA 2K11 and The BIGS. EA Sports has one nod with NCAA Football 09, and last year's winner UFC Undisputed 2009 came from THQ. UFC Undisputed 2010 dropped co...

In a year that had several quality soccer offerings the one that stood out the most was 2010 FIFA World Cup. The game was exceedingly fun and when tied in with the emotions of the real World Cup taking place it really nailed the full experience. Even the vuvuzelas made an appearance! (more…)...

Coming off a flat year that created some concern about the future viability of the franchise, NCAA Football 11 stepped up with significant improvements to gameplay and valuable feature additions. Sales numbers got a bump of 8% in the first month showing how the proper priorities could result in a shift of consumer interest, but even accounting for that the series has not been able to display necessary growth throughout the generation. Regardless NCAA Football 11 has become arguably the most co...

There are advantages to being the first entry in a brand new franchise. Chief among them are that expectations are naturally lower and consumers interested in the product tend to be more patient. UFC Undisputed broke onto the scene last year capturing the top game of the year distinction by surprising with its fun factor and polish.
