The demo for NBA Live 16 has essentially showcased all the major improvements to the game for this year with the online Pro-Am modes and of course basic gameplay. That makes the EA Access trial period less of an event, but there's a lot that has opened up through it as well. I'm working towards a review for Sporting News that will go up Monday. Until then, check out some of the early gameplay videos that have been captured from the full game!  (more…)...

With only two days to go until release 2K Sports is still in the process of revealing features for NBA 2K16. Today it's a look at changes made to standard online ranked games. Play Now Online in 2K16 features a "league" system that is similar in nature to Online Seasons in various EA Sports games. Winning games will prompt movement up to higher leagues while losing will mean relegation to a lower one. There are some differences though as coming out on top with lower rated (by tier) ...

2K Sports today released a new video that goes over some of the elements being introduced to MyCareer mode in NBA 2K16 besides the general story from Spike Lee. Included in the trailer is a glimpse of the playable high school and college aspects. Kansas is one of at least 11 universities that have been licensed to appear in the game. The others are believed to be Arizona, Arizona State, Georgetown, Louisville, Michigan, Texas, UCLA, UConn, Villanova, and Wisconsin. Other new f...

The demo for NBA Live 16 is now available to download on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It's a unique one in that it includes an online component and the ability to create a character that will carry over to the full game should it be purchased. Featured are six teams to use in standard exhibition games (Bulls, Cavaliers, Clippers, Thunder, Warriors, Wizards) along with tutorial drills, shootaround, and scrimmage. But it's the Live Pro-Am that takes center stage. There are two onlin...

It's somewhat disconcerting when any game holds back from showing gameplay footage leading up to release, but in the case of NBA 2K16 there wasn't much concern over what that meant. The series' track record and where it was coming from with 2K15 left little reason to doubt that 2K16 would be in excellent shape. Still, it took until just 11 days remained for any footage to go out, with today a huge wave of videos being let loose from a variety of sources. It's noteworthy that thes...

MyCareer Mode in NBA 2K16 is written and directed by Spike Lee, and the more adult-nature moved the game's rating to E10+ as it includes objectionable dialogue, references to suicide, and the death of characters. Today 2K Sports released a trailer for the popular story mode which now is being likened more to a movie than those from the past two editions of the series. Following footage recorded off-screen at E3, NBA Live 16 went somewhat into hiding and since then has avoided the release of any gameplay footage, knowing that a great deal would ride on the demo anyway. However EA Sports gave out copies of the game at a party on Saturday night - many of which have since ended up on Ebay - and that means footage of the game would inevitably get out no matter whatever efforts EA would take to prevent that from happening. Already there has been a live strea...

Last year 2K Sports introduced a pre-game studio show featuring Ernie Johnson and Shaquille O'Neal. For NBA 2K16 they'll have a third at the desk, as Kenny Smith joins the show. Also new with the upcoming game is that the show will go on the road for playoff games, with in-arena presentation, and it expands to cover halftime and post-game as well!
