Previously in part one I put up videos of the Fast Break and Pick and Roll Control drills from the NBA Academy in NBA Live 09. The next four to showcase are Offensive Rebounding, Defensive Rebounding, Low Post Offense, and Low Post Defense. Just from a snap judgment I didn't find these four to be quite as valuable as the previous four, though that could vary depending on the individual or skill level involved. I did learn some though, especially from the rebounding drills on how to box ou...

This is the first full game I played of NBA Live 09. As such you'll notice how much I struggle especially on the offensive end. It isn't until the third quarter of the second game I played that I started to get into a flow offensively. You'll witness that in the next set of videos which will be Warriors @ Clippers and then especially in the one after that which is Thunder @ Hornets where it all started to come together for me. I suspect that most people will find there is a curve to learn...

I've believed for a long time that a Superstar type mode was best suited for a basketball game. This year we have that in NBA Live 09 with the introduction of Be A Pro. The mode, which has been a huge success in games such as NHL and FIFA, is not nearly as fleshed out here. Actually it would be difficult to describe it as a mode. It is just a one game experience taking over an existing player. Really it is probably best used as practice for Online Team Play. A few notes to pass along on B...

One of the most intriguing additions to NBA Live 09 is the NBA Academy. While this hasn't gotten much fanfare after going through some of it at the community event I believed many people would find it to be extremely valuable. One thing that hasn't been done is producing a full list of drills and showing how they are run so that is what I plan to do over the next few days. The following drills are available in the NBA Academy: Fast Break Offense, Fast Break Defense, Pick and Roll Control ...

Some screenshots and highlight clips from NBA Live 09 have started to make their way onto EA Sports World. These highlights have advanced since the ones for the football titles to include the ability to change camera angles (including a free floating camera), change playback speeds, and they also include sound. Continue on to view two of the videos that are currently up. (more…)...

With the move of the NHL franchise to Visual Concepts it provides the opportunity to look at some aspects of NHL 2K9 that will be similar in the upcoming NBA 2K9. One of those things is the new Team-Up online mode where you control a single player as opposed to the team along with other users controlling their own player. I tested out the mode in NHL in order to find out what to expect when NBA comes out. 2K is in a position where they are attempting to catch up in the co-op area of onlin...

NBA 2K9 had some time on Gamespot's "On the Spot" show today. While there was some early video from E3 this represents the first real look at a near finished build of the game. Amuse yourself as awkward questions such as how many teams the game has and if it has freestyle moves are asked. There were some really nice animations and I like the game speed being faster (some will like that others might not) but on the downside there was some pretty severe sliding. I do like the way the highli...

I went ahead and recorded videos of some of the games. Joining me (#31) was Will Kinsler aka Raczilla of EA Sports (#29), Damon Peterson of Madden Planet (#16), and Vince Waller aka Nix who helps me with the site (#5). I'll have more to put up over the next few days but wanted to get at least a full game for everyone to watch now. I've also got two highlights from EASW with the only goal I've scored and an assist to Rac for his goal. Both came in the same game within the span of about two mi...
