The first big sports game release of 2016 is here with EA Sports UFC 2. The sequel has improved on the deficiencies of the first, providing a much more satisfying gameplay experience and deep roster, but the modes of play come up a little short. Career Mode is a disappointment and the new spin on Ultimate Team isn't very compelling. The new KO Mode is a winner however, even though it isn't playable online. Ultimately what it comes down to is the game this time around better respects the s...

After four years passing without a new lacrosse video game the first on the latest generation of consoles made its debut with Casey Powell Lacrosse 16 yesterday. It's available for $50 as a digital download on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game is a pleasant surprise, with accessible and fun gameplay, Career Mode playable as both "Coach" and "Player", and a well-designed sharing system with community created files that can deliver real teams (67 colleges and all 9 from Major...

EA Sports rolled out a new game, NBA Live Mobile, to Canadian iOS and Android stores last week. The plan is for the game to expand to the US and other regions in the near future. It's somehow the best thing NBA Live since 2009. Using the same free-to-play model incorporating the Ultimate Team concept as other mobile sports games, NBA Live Mobile is all about building up a roster and acquiring desirable players through card packs, at auction, or with rewards. Coins and bonuses are earned ...

Remarkable for the sheer amount of content provided within along with excellent gameplay and presentation, NBA 2K16 is an all-time great sports game. The ambition and effort that has gone into the product is unmatched within the genre. Check out the comprehensive review of the game at Sporting News today! There are some issues to work through; they include the 2K Pro-Am which still hasn't worked, and MyCourt where it seems no one can join another's unless they live near them. Otherwise t...

NBA Live 16 is a fun game to play, but is that enough to catapult the series to a place where it has become actual competition - and is potentially worth a purchase decision - after five years of misery? Check out the complete review of the game over at Sporting News today. For those on the fence, the demo is a great opportunity to get a feel for the game as it contains pretty much everything that's new to Live for this year. EA Sports is even keeping the online Pro-Am portion of it run...

The latest edition of the biggest selling video game franchise in the world releases this week. FIFA 16 is facing a strong challenge from Pro Evolution Soccer 2016, making it the only sport that features true competition in the genre. FIFA has been on top for nearly a decade but EA Sports is starting to struggle in holding onto that position. This is the least I've enjoyed a FIFA game in a long, long time. It's still a good game, but new frustrations related to gameplay, and a sleazy impl...

Madden NFL 16 offers up some intriguing additions and improvements on the field, with new receiver-defender interactions and controls, inaccuracy from quarterbacks, and more realistic penalties - plus the introduction of the brand new Draft Champions Mode. How are those things reconciled with what appears to be an especially buggy release for the series and disappointment with general presentation and Connected Franchise? All of that is examined and more in my reviews of the game which ha...
