  • Your Thoughts on Connected Franchise Improvements with Madden NFL 16

Late last week EA Sports revealed the new features and improvements that have been made for Connected Franchise Mode in Madden NFL 16. Many of the features hit on requests from those who have played the mode in recent years, including the ability to sim a specific result, Combine information being available without the need to spend scouting points, and the ability to practice freely with the team. On the flip side the "Goals" system has its merits but also drawbacks and it's been expa...
  • Your Thoughts on the Feature Set for NHL 16

The NHL season has only just reached the Conference Finals but EA Sports has provided an early glimpse ahead to fall's NHL 16. There's far more substance here, providing a full features list, than would be typical four months out from release and with E3 just under four weeks away. The experience of last year, when the company lost much of their consumer base by releasing a half-finished game and attempting to hide that fact until the very last minute, has necessitated this strategy of...
  • Your Thoughts on the First Madden NFL 16 Feature News

Last week EA Sports rolled out the first information related to Madden NFL 16. For the most part it was underwhelming and nondescript. The exception related to receiver-defender interactions including new controls for each side and more situations that will draw penalties. That will be the focus of the two polls today. The first asks how much does the news on receiver-defender interactions matter. Is this a big deal that has increased anticipation towards Madden 16? Or is it not enough...
  • The Golf Club Not Having Much Effect on Rory McIlroy PGA Tour Purchase Plans

Golf is one of the few sports now to feature actual competition with the arrival of the "sim" game The Golf Club last August and its recent push due to a retail release and accompanying feature update. It's appeal is fairly limited however, targeting the golfing purists, while the upcoming Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is clearly trying to draw in casuals as well. A poll was posted last week to gauge how the presence of The Golf Club could be affecting the approach for some towards Rory McIlroy P...
  • Will The Golf Club Have Any Effect on Sales of Rory McIlroy PGA Tour?

Rory McIlroy PGA Tour acts as the return of EA Sports' golf franchise after taking over a year off but it will enter the market with a well-regarded golf game already available. The Golf Club will be its competition, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be much of a competition. The Golf Club has some advantages over McIlroy but also targets a smaller audience. It attempts to be a true simulation which means it's ultra-realistic and difficult. McIlroy on the other hand is offering...
  • Your Thoughts on MLB 15: The Show After Two Weeks of Release

Those who picked up MLB 15: The Show at or around release have now had plenty of time to settle in with the game and form opinions. For the most part the game is being received well by consumers and to an extent reviewers (check out my review here) however its Metacritic score is the lowest for the series since MLB 07 (the first one on PS3) which suggests something more is being desired from the product than it is delivering. Vote in the poll and include any thoughts in the comments. H...
  • Your Thoughts on Potential Interest in Unlicensed Football Games

It's been nearly five years since a console football game last released that didn't carry with it NFL and NFLPA licensing. Backbreaker in 2010 followed All Pro Football 2K8 from 2007 and neither received a sequel. The last truly successful unlicensed game was Blitz: The League which came out in 2005. The limited market, greater development costs, and higher consumer expectations have made projects such as those increasingly difficult to justify and stay alive beyond the conceptual process...
  • Your MLB 15: The Show Purchase Plans

With under four weeks until release it seems the most appropriate time to gauge where people stand on buying MLB 15: The Show. Previous polls have been held to determine whether features have swayed decisions on buying, how important the "Legends" are to prospective consumers, and anticipation levels for the announced features. This poll is meant to wrap everything up, as there has now been plenty of gameplay through live streams and all the features detailed, and get a feel for how in...
