Throughout the month there will be a number of articles that take a look back over the biggest developments in sports gaming this year along with the annual top 10 games countdown. Overall 2010 finished with only a couple great standout games but a wide variety of decent games that provided value or innovation in their own ways. I have narrowed each category for a "Community Choice Awards" down to three games based on how they delivered and the perception in the community since their releas...

After a huge week 10 the question now arises as to whether Michael Vick actually deserves to be a 99 overall in Madden 11 and the argument can certainly be made that he should be. It would be an unprecedented leap to go from starting the year at a 73 and getting incremental upgrades through roster updates only to reach the pinnacle by the end of week 10. He currently sits at 87 and there has never been a one week jump that could even compare to going from that place to a 99. Really though w...

The NBA is pretty much the only sport these days that features a legit head-to-head competition between companies. That is being evidenced even more this year with both 2K Sports and EA Sports making big moves for consumer interest and market share. 2K Sports signed Michael Jordan as the cover athlete and NBA Elite 11 includes a free downloadable copy of NBA Jam. Which one will have a stronger influence on a potential purchase decision? Michael Jordan: The greatest NBA player of all time is...
  • Lebron Joins The Heat

There is a new big three in the NBA as Lebron James has decided to join up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on the Miami Heat crushing the city of Cleveland in the process. While this represents an intimidating triumvirate the rest of the roster will probably end up consisting of Mario Chalmers, second round draft picks, and any players that can be persuaded to join the team at the minimum to make a run at the title. Looking at this from the perspective of how it will affect NBA Elite 11 and...

In what is probably the most anticipated free agency period in NBA history several high profile players are about to hit the market with multiple teams having cleared cap space in anticipation of the opportunity to sign them. Where the players land will obviously have a huge impact on how the teams shape up in NBA 2K11 and NBA Elite 11. Just imagine if Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh did play together in Miami. They would instantly become the most used team online. The potential for ...
  • Looking at the NBA Elite 11 Poll Results

While opinions will obviously change over time as more information comes out and the changes are demonstrated within the game the first reactions to ideas can be pretty telling. After the news broke about NBA Elite 11 (formerly NBA Live) I got up a set of polls and with a few days having passed the results can be examined. Few like the name change, most everyone likes the idea of real-time physics being added, and there is a pretty even split when it comes to right stick usage. That results...
