Kicking off the year-in-review period is the third annual Pastapadre Community Choice Awards. Last year FIFA 12 walked away with the top honors but there was much more competition present in the field than when NBA 2K11 swept just about every award in 2010. This year appears to be competitive yet again as there are a number of titles that offer outstanding aspects but find themselves deficient in some other way. There is no clear standout that would sweep the awards or is a sure thing to ...

2K Sports has rolled out news on NBA 2K13 in quicker fashion than in the past with the latest announcement being the addition of the 1992 Dream Team and 2012 Olympic Team. At this time it appears the two teams will be matched up against each other and there is no larger Olympic mode - however there is always the potential of more to do with them being revealed at a later date. The big get is Charles Barkely who had been absent from the series. He'll appear on the Dream Team only (not on a...

Last week 2K Sports revealed that Jay-Z would be "executive producer" of NBA 2K13. What his role entails is selection of the soundtrack and influence on the general look of the game including elements such as menus and intro videos. Immediate response to the announcement was notably mixed. Had 2K not declared it to be the biggest news in their history beforehand it probably would have generated a better response from fans of the series. As far as marketing goes Jay-Z has incredible reach ...

Anticipation levels were high heading into E3 for Madden NFL 13 considering EA Sports had been hyping huge reveals to come out of the event for months. Those materialized with the "Infinity" physics engine, explanation of the "Connected Careers" mode, and further incorporation of legends. There are also now plenty of gameplay videos out to analyze which is the best way outside of playing to determine if the stated improvements are ultimately translating to a dramatically better game...

In terms of news NCAA Football 13 hasn't been faring all too well lately. EA Sports pushed out the demo for the game five weeks prior to release hoping to distract from all the big Madden NFL 13 announcements and subsequent buzz - and by giving consumers their hands-on experience with NCAA 13 that the improvements would be evident and perceived as a worthwhile upgrade from last year regardless of what is going on with Madden. Now that the demo has been out for a few days how do you feel a...
