The Wrap-Up: MLB 2K9
Heading into the release of MLB 2K9 there was a certain sense of optimism. Outside of one clearly identified problem everything pointed towards an improved offering, one that while maybe not great would be enough to satisfy baseball gaming fans on the 360. Unfortunately it didn't take long to realize that not only did that not turn out to be the case, but it is far worse than anyone would've anticipated.

The Wrap-Up: MLB 09 The Show
At times I've had some difficulty writing about The Show over the last couple months which is actually due to what a quality product 08 was. Usually you can assess the previous iteration and have an idea of what you're looking for out of the next. With 08 the only real glaring weakness was with online play. It is tougher to identify and discuss the improvements to a game when it was already so good to begin with.
So that's where I start when evaluating MLB 09 The Show. I already knew it w...
MLB 09 The Show Online Impressions
SCEA has always struggled in the area of online play with their MLB franchise. Whether it was the "traffic delays", lag plagued outings, or questionable design decisions there has always been something severely wrong. Early reports heading into release were not encouraging. Now that the game is out I've had additional time to evaluate the online play. Continue on to read through my observations and watch some video examples.

Top NCAA Football 10 Cover Athlete Candidates
With EA Sports already beginning to roll out some info on NCAA Football 2010 I thought it would be time to look at the top candidates for the cover this year. From what I've been able to gather EA won't be attempting to repeat last year's experiment of a different cover athlete for each platform. Instead it appears they are going back to the standard single cover athlete.
The only defensive player to ever be on the cover of the NCAA Football franchise was Charles Woodson and there doesn't...
MLB 2K9 Demo Impressions and Videos
I wanted to get up some initial impressions of MLB 2K9 after running through the demo a couple times. By no means is this a definitive assessment of the game, but there are numerous things worth mentioning that I found to be positives as well as dislikes that I have come across already. Overall the reaction to the demo seems to be quite mixed with most everyone recognizing improvement but much of that being overshadowed by discussion of various issues.

MLB 2K9 Conference Call Recap
Earlier this afternoon I had the opportunity to participate in the media conference call for MLB 2K9 with Lead Features Designer Erick Boenisch and Gameplay Producer Jonathan Rivera. Along with Chase from OS we live blogged the call. You can catch the transcript here.
I also wanted to write up a recap to go accompany the live blog. These calls usually provide a good overview of the game as some of the attendees have not followed the pre-release progress and the questions reflect that. Sti...
MLB 2K9 Going Overboard with Stadium Advertising
I've never had any issues with in-game ads being displayed. This is because they have always been a natural fit, actually helping to increase the immersion factor. Seeing advertisements in places you would see them in real life they've makes sense. However with MLB 2K9 they may have finally crossed the line with how they are being inserted.
Thanks to Operation Sports who has provided screenshots of every stadium we can now see how certain ads (specifically Pepsi) are dominant. While it's po...
