Shrek 4 and MacGruber Severely Disappoint at the Box Office
It was a down weekend at the box office with both new openings coming in way under industry expectations. Though the Shrek brand had been tarnished by the last release it was still thought to be strong enough especially considering a lack of competition and the opportunity to be buoyed by 3D ticket prices. Industry projections were were mostly in the $100 million range though some believed it could reach $130 million. It ended up taking in only $71.3 million.
It almost sounds unreasonable t...
Backbreaker Demo Videos
While I'm still working on collecting impressions on the Backbreaker demo (pages of notes already) I wanted to get up a handful of gameplay videos. Overall I've been really impressed with the organic nature of the player interaction and tackling and have found myself enjoying the running game as well as kickoffs. On the other hand issues with the camera, the CPU's inept offensive performance and particularly their frequent throwing of INTs, and dislike of the passing game have pulled me in the...
Movies May Be Offered On-Demand One Month After Theatrical Release
Major Hollywood studios and Time Warner Cable are in discussions to create what is for now being called "home theater on-demand". This initiative would deliver movies to homes as early as 30 days after they release in theaters. The Wall Street Journal has the story on how the normal four month wait period could be trimmed to just one month and be offered through on-demand. Review: Get Him to the Greek
Get Him to the Greek is helmed by Nicholas Stoller as a follow-up to his directorial debut with Forgetting Sarah Marshall. A sequel of sorts it focuses on the character of Aldous Snow as played by the eccentric Russell Brand. Unfortunately the movie takes on a completely different tone than FSM becoming more of an in-your-face comedy and in doing so bypasses the delivery of a genuine story and enjoyable characters.

MLB 10: The Show Receives Patch Fix
Earlier this week the third patch for MLB 10: The Show came out and not long it was discovered that a major issue had been introduced. Firing up the game on the PS3 will lead to the prompt for the game update and all should be good after installation. Full details on the earlier patch can be found here....
