Today EA Sports announced that Online Team Play in FIFA 11 will expand beyond the 10v10 that had been featured previously to now a full 11v11 by including goalkeepers amongst the user controlled players. "Be a Goalkeeper" as it is being called will also be available in career mode. Be A Goalkeeper is a completely new way to play—instead of thinking as a player out in the middle of the pitch, you have to think and react as the goalkeeper. Experience the thrill of the one o...

The demo for EA Sports' NHL 11 is now available on the Xbox 360 and will be arriving sometime this afternoon (usually that ends up being around 3PT) on the PS3. The demo includes two different modes in similar fashion to what was provided last year. This time in place of a trial run in Be a Pro there is the opportunity to try out the new Ultimate Team Hockey League. There is also the ability to play a standard game with Philadelphia @ Chicago in the third period of the seventh game of the NHL ...

News has hit today that 30+ employees have been laid off from the Visual Concepts  (2K Sports) studio. VC currently develops the NBA 2K, MLB 2K, and NHL 2K franchises. Cutting 30 employees is a very significant number for a studio that isn't all that big to begin with (recently was estimated to have 150 in total). Over the years the studio has also been responsible for series including NFL 2K/All-Pro Football 2K8 and College Hoops 2K. This is purely speculation on my part, but based on t...

It was a busy weekend at the box office where old action stars reigned supreme, a reliable female star opened a film to modest numbers, and a potential cult-classic couldn't gain any traction. Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables, which united numerous action stars of the past, resonated with a large segment of males looking for a straight big action offering. Despite primarily disappointing reviews (citing great action but poor acting and story) the crowd supported it leading it to the top...
