The Line Drive is a weekly collection of news, links, and updates that didn’t necessarily warrant their own postings. Fight Night Champion cover art has been revealed. Either it is being used to focus on the story mode or the fighter has yet to be announced that will take its place. The community wish list tournament for NCAA Football 12 at The Gaming Tailgate is down to the final four. Coaching carousel, improved defensive playbooks, custom playbooks, and better CPU play c...

The Disney animated film Tangled opened above expectations however it still wasn't enough to stop Harry Potter. The second weekend of Deathly Hallows: Part 1 came in #1 at the box office for both the three day weekend and five day holiday run. Tangled was able to draw $48.6 million for the three days and totaled $68.5 million from its Wednesday opening. Certainly having the power of Disney behind it helped as did a large opening of 3D screens thanks to Harry Potter bowing out of releasing i...

For the holiday weekend I thought I'd run through a Padrecast on my own and take some questions from Twitter and Facebook. I discuss the NBA 2K11 patch and ratings drop for Tony Parker and IGN's decision to run a piece praising EA for canceling NBA Elite 11 at the last minute. Then responding to a couple of the questions presented I go into the likelihood of college basketball and MVP Baseball returning, how the "Online Pass" may be affecting sales, and more. The podcast runs approximately 28 ...

It was recently announced that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is set for a theatrical reboot. The movie will include an all-new cast. Warner Bros. purchased the rights and are moving forward with production. Buffy the Vampire Slayer began with a movie in 1992 starring Kristy Swanson and then spun into the popular TV show that ran for seven seasons (1997-2003) with Sarah Michelle Gellar in the lead role. What has spurned backlash to this news is that Joss Whedon is not involved with the project...

The first screenshot from MLB 2K11 has arrived and features cover athlete Roy Halladay. The complete full size image can be viewed in the gallery. Though the image doesn't provide much sense of how the game may have advanced graphically in general it does show clear improvement for Halladay vs last year. It at least doesn't appear to be as obviously touched up as debut screens in previous years have been which is encouraging. The size of the numbers on the back of the jersey look to be much...

By: Brian Sipple Whenever a publisher holds off on releasing information for an upcoming title gamers have a legitimate reason to start casting doubts in its direction. When delays pile up, demos get canceled, and early reviews are embargoed, it’s surely going to raise a couple of eyebrows. What do you though when a game appears seemingly out of thin air? When all of a sudden you hear somewhere about a game being released that few people knew was even being made? Such is the case wi...
  • Black Friday 2010 Deals

I've gone ahead and put together listings of Black Friday sales that relate to sports games. Some of the deals don't seem all that great at first glance, but considering that many of the titles in question incorporate the "Online Pass" it can end up being a savings over buying used and tacking on the $10 online functionality charge. Those looking for many specific or a wide variety of sports games will find Best Buy and Walmart the places to go. NCAA Football 11, NHL 11, FIFA 11, and EA Spo...
