The Ultimate Team modes that debuted in the FIFA series and has since expanded out to Madden and NHL have always been slanted towards users who are willing to pay out of pocket for advantages. Unlike regular downloadable content in the context of a mode they present much more potential to bring in money and continue to do so over the course of months or even the whole year. It has been well known that Ultimate Team has been making quite a bit of money for EA and in doing so focusing on copies ...

With teams having completed three quarters of their regular season schedule every division has a tight competition taking place going into the final weeks. The upcoming Madden 11 roster update should bring about some significant ratings changes as players continue to establish their levels of performance as more than a trend or aberration. This update though may have more impact with the number of good players that will move to the IR. Matt Cassel was bumped up to an 85 in the last update b...

The season finale of The Walking Dead was able to pull in the highest ratings for the series through its six episode run. "TS-19" drew six million viewers, four million of which fell into the all-important 18-49 demo making for a stunning 3.0 rating. Re-airings immediately after would tack on two million more viewers to the total. The Walking Dead was already established as the most watched show in cable history, giving AMC a huge hit to go along with their well regarded but low rated stabl...

A brand new preview of Fight Night Champion has gone up on Inside Xbox. Discussion centers on some of the improvements that have been made for the game with the new analog punching controls, flash KOs, "Champion" mode, being the first M rated title from EA Sports, and more. The glimpses of gameplay though will likely be the most valuable pieces of the video however. This acts as the first opportunity to see the actual gameplay and even includes some of the intros and the stand-up mechanism ...
  • FX Cancels Terriers

The disappointing but anticipated news came down from FX today that the network will not be renewing Terriers for a second season. The low rated show had a passionate following from viewers and critics but was never able to gain traction amongst the masses. Terriers just completed its 13 episode run first season last week. Terriers was by far my favorite new show of the year. It was marred however by confusing marketing, a questionable name, and having a difficult theme to communicate. Thou...

The weekend that follows the Thanksgiving holiday stretch is typically one of the weakest of the year in terms of new releases and also holdover strength. That once again held true as only a single film, The Warrior's Way, opened in wide release. Meanwhile after having started #2 Tangled captured #1 as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 slid by it. So in its second weekend Tangled captures the crown after having been the runner-up its opening weekend, which is still a relatively r...

Throughout the month there will be a number of articles that take a look back over the biggest developments in sports gaming this year along with the annual top 10 games countdown. Overall 2010 finished with only a couple great standout games but a wide variety of decent games that provided value or innovation in their own ways. I have narrowed each category for a "Community Choice Awards" down to three games based on how they delivered and the perception in the community since their releas...
