    With the third party license on consoles stretching one more year EA Sports has finally gotten back into baseball by taking the avenue of creating a team management sim on Facebook. Joining Madden and FIFA Superstars which have amassed over five million daily users on the social platform, World Series Superstars includes the MLB license and more in the way of micro-management.     After breaking the significant news last Sunday that several high-level development team members are leaving the Madden NFL team a few days were given out of courtesy to see if any of the individuals would make their own personal announcements. When that didn't happen it was important to reveal that creative director Ian Cummings, who had essentially become the face of the franchise over the last three years, was one of those on the way out.  (more…)...

    In its sixth month of release NBA 2K11 continued its sales dominance by topping all of the high profile new sports titles that arrived in March. That is a departure from the past few years where the MLB The Show franchise carried the month with relative ease. Last year NBA 2K10 did not even make the top 20 for the month to put it in context.     Universal has released the theatrical trailer for the highly anticipated Cowboys & Aliens. The sci-fi western, based on the graphic novel, deals with an alien invasion that forces the opposing sides to come together in an effort to fight them off. The movie stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, and Sam Rockwell and is directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man). Cowboys & Aliens is slated to release on July 29th.     EA Sports has tweeted another off-screen image from Madden NFL 12 this time of Eagles quarterback Michael Vick who looks to be on his way to the finals of the cover tournament. Defensive tackle Junior Siavii of the Seahawks and Eagles center Jamaal Jackson are visible as well though blurred out by the depth of field effect. Click here to view it full size....

    A couple off-screen images of Madden NFL 12 have made their way out on Twitter. One shows off a punt formation and most notably a new kick meter reminiscent of the PS2 days and has been accompanied by some talk of progressive lighting. The second spotlights the cheerleaders (which were also seen in the debut teaser trailer) in a sideline cut scene. (more…)...

    The first teaser trailer for the upcoming Rise of the Planet of the Apes has arrived. Acting as a prequel to Planet of the Apes the story takes place in present day and centers on the genetic engineering that led to the ultra-intelligent apes and subsequent war for supremacy. The film stars James Franco and Freida Pinto and is directed by Rupert Wyatt. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is slated to release on August 5th. ...
