Real Steel will likely be described by many as "Rocky with robots" and that isn't too far off from the central themes that drive the emotions and plot developments. What the film does really well though is balance a family dynamic with the robot boxing action - blending the typical inspirational sports story with a futuristic scenario and relatable characters. It's brilliantly handled and leads to some of the most crowd-pleasing moments I've ever experienced in theater - creating the disctin...
  • Top Rated Players in NBA 2K12

Though having revealed many of the player ratings for NBA 2K12 on Twitter earlier today it made sense to compile the top ones here - all those rated 80 or higher. For others make sure to check the Twitter timeline given that all the teams have been run through there. Overall it seems the median has been lowered this year as many players have dropped - and Dirk Nowitzki sitting at just an 85 overall is prompting the most discussion. 2K12 features one extra player rated 90+ but two less rat...

Generally it takes about a quarter of the season to look at performances as more than just anomalies and go beyond trends - and now through three games those new perceptions of players and teams are starting to be solidified. The Bills, Lions, and Raiders are being taken seriously while those like the Vikings and Dolphins are worse off than expected. Calvin Johnson has a good shot at getting the "clutch" trait in the update. He has made a number of big plays over the course of his career ...
  • Release of Second Patch for NCAA Football 12 is Nearing

EA Sports announced earlier today that next patch for NCAA Football 12, which will address at least the no-huddle issue introduced in the last patch, has cleared internal certification and is now in the hands of Microsoft and Sony. In general the expectation at this point in the process would be for approval and going live in the next two weeks. It is unclear if what, if any, other changes are being introduced in the aforementioned patch. Unfortunately the time it has taken to develop and...
  • NBA 2K12 To Have Legend-Based DLC; Historic Teams Online for a Price

When the news was first reported that historic teams would not be available to play online in NBA 2K12 that was a big disappointment. Considering that rosters are largely the same as last year due to the lockout they would have provided some much needed variety and been the incentive to play online. 2K Sports didn't really comment on the subject to explain why that was - but now it appears to be evident. The option will be available through paid downloadable content called "The Legends Showc...

Now just one week out from release of NBA 2K12 the unique circumstances are about to be realized as there is no end in sight for the league lockout. 2K12 will arrive largely using last years rosters and without any rookies - with features such as NBA Today being negated. In exchange 2K Sports offers an increased focus on legends and historic teams though they will not be playable online. Despite the nearing release the company has yet to talk at all about Association mode or online play w...
