UFC Undisputed 3: Hits and Misses
The UFC as a video game franchise and THQ faced a somewhat do-or-die scenario with the release of UFC Undisputed 3. While the launch of the original back in 2009 turned out to be a huge hit the follow-up was a disappointment both financially and in terms of product quality. The company had to deliver with UFC 3 or its growth potential going forward would be greatly diminished and brand tarnished further. Thankfully, for the most part, UFC Undisputed 3 is an excellent product that has thoroug...
MLB 2K12 Demo Coming Next Week
While there's still no comment out of SCEA regarding a demo for MLB 12: The Show today 2K Sports announced that MLB 2K12 will have its release on Tuesday February 28th on the Xbox 360 and PS3. It will include a World Series rematch of the Texas Rangers @ St. Louis Cardinals.
This represents the first sign of encouragement regarding the product which has been kept out of the sight of consumers for the most part with 2K limiting information and media on it. With just over a week to go there...
NBA 2K12 on PS3 Gets Patched to Address Freezing Issue at Boot
For several weeks many consumers of NBA 2K12 on the PS3 have had difficulties in getting the game to a load up completely and advance to the main menu - instead being met by a game freeze when the saved settings would attempt to load. A workaround, to delete game files, seemed to allow access to the game in the meantime though even that didn't work for everyone and frustration from those locked out completely from playing NBA 2K12 had been building.
Yesterday an update was released on the...
WWE 13 Could Focus on Attitude Era; X-Pac Creates a Stir With Contentious Tweets
It worked exceedingly well for the NBA 2K series, and several other franchises have tried to cash in on the past as of late, so it wouldn't be a huge surprise if WWE did the same and tailored the upcoming WWE 13 with a focus around the "Attitude Era". That's the rumor from Wrestle Zone which takes the opportunity following recent tweets from Sean "X-Pac" Waltman to speculate and drop some inside knowledge on where the product is headed.
Waltman has made news by going off on THQ in a serie...
EA Sports Going Back to NBA Live Name
Last night I tweeted that the opportunity was there for EA Sports to start promoting their new sim NBA product by taking advantage of All Star Weekend. Not only will fans be engaged with the festivities and the sports media focused on the league but the Tiburon studio that is now developing the series is just minutes away from Orlando.
Now that promotion, viral or otherwise, seems to have started as first noted by Kotaku. Cavs rookie and #1 pick Kyrie Irving tweeted that he was play...
2K Sports and SCEA Remain Mum on Baseball Demo Plans
The second to last week to offer a pre-release demo for MLB 2K12 and MLB 12: The Show on the 360 and PS3 have now passed. That leaves just one final opportunity, Tuesday the 28th, to get a demo out before the games hit stores. A lack of a pre-release demo would be an undeniably terrible sign for MLB 2K12 and a discouraging one even for MLB 12: The Show. There are various reasons why companies would choose to defer on providing a demo but all of them would be due to a feeling that doing so pr...
Online Clubs Detailed and Demo Date Revealed for Tiger Woods 13
EA Sports has released a set of blogs for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 detailing a new feature in "Online Country Clubs" and an in-game currency to be known as "coins".
The Country Clubs feature acts as a clan of sorts with the opportunity to set up custom live tournaments (which have web integration) while play in any mode earns "status points" for the club. There is competition within the clubs with rankings based on those "status points" that can lead to "coin" awards and admission to a spe...
Jai Courtney Cast in A Good Day to Die Hard as John McClane’s Son
Jai Courtney has been cast in the upcoming fifth entry in the Die Hard series as John (Jack) McClane Jr. A few months back it was reported that names such as Aaron Paul, James Badge Dale, and Liam Hemsworth were the front-runners for the role but Courtney - probably best known as Varro from the first season of Spartacus - emerged and won out. The image above is actually from his screen test for the role with Bruce Willis.
Since the first Die Hard in 1988, John McClane has found himself i...
