NBA Jam: On Fire Edition Gets Another Roster Update; This Time Adds Players
After being pressured a great deal EA Sports finally provided a roster update for NBA Jam: On Fire Edition at the end of January. That satisfied the requirement given it was a prominently advertised feature and to an extent even met the realistic expectations for the title making another update - which has just arrived - a pleasant surprise.
The first update only moved players around and didn't add any rookies or others who had increased their relevance enough to include on the limi...
Preview of Improvements Made to the Passing Game in NCAA Football 13
The first look at gameplay improvements comes from the latest episode of GTTV. It's a fairly short segment but throws out a good deal of new info on the passing game. There will be a number of additional pass trajectories, new QB drop-backs, improved throwing on the run, pass icons are dim until receivers are prepared for the ball, and the practically annual claim of there being no more in the way of psychic defensive backs is made.
Advance to 12:54 in the video for the NCAA Football 13 s...
Patch Details for MLB 12: The Show
It took longer than previous years to get the first patch for MLB 12: The Show but as of this morning it has arrived! The patch includes a fix to start times for games in Franchise mode (unlike MLB 09 a restart of Franchise/Road to the Show will not be required) the success of outfielders being able to throw out runners at first base on base hits will be greatly reduced, and teams will now wear their correct alternate jerseys on appropriate days.
It's most notable that the new structure f...
New MLB Players Emerge First in 2K12
The first in-season roster update for MLB 12: The Show arrived on Monday but did not deliver any new players who have made their debuts this season. To MLB 2K12's credit the game has gotten some details right over the competition like the new playoff structure and division tiebreakers - it's also the first to deliver names like Yu Darvish, Yoenis Cespedes, and even those who had been absent such as Jamie Moyer to the roster this year.
The two big arrivals are of course Darvish who com...
Online Home Run Derby in MLB 12: The Show Still Missing in Action
One mystery surrounding MLB 12: The Show has been it's Online Home Run Derby mode which even now in mid-April remains absent from the game. Granted it was not highly promoted, and actually I could only find one reference to it from the company and a flash of it in a trailer, but it's still a feature that some anticipated taking advantage of that has not been delivered.
Based on some comments out of SCEA in response to consumer inquries the mode was left inactive at launch to protect again...

The fan voting initiative for the NHL 13 cover has now gone from 60 candidates (origianally 2 from each team) to 32. The 30 winners and 2 "wild cards" are now eligible to receive votes - 16 can be cast on each ballet with up to 10 entries a day being allowed. The top 16 players in terms of total number of votes will move on and then it will become the more traditional bracket style event. This round runs until April 22 and is completed from the NHL.com cover vote page....
MLB Today Season Mode Now (Partially) Working in MLB 2K12
The MLB season has been underway for two weeks and finally MLB 2K12's main new mode has started to look like what was advertised. Having on two occasions now detailed that MLB Today Season was not even functioning it was critical that 2K Sports get it running properly. Some headway appears to have been made early this week but the mode still isn't fulfilling the promises the company set. (more…)...
Madden NFL 13 Cover Tournament Advances to Final Four
The tournament to determine the Madden NFL 13 cover athlete has reached the semifinals. Cam Newton will take on Patrick Willis on one side of the bracket while Aaron Rodgers will face NFC North foe Calvin Johnson in the other.
The big surprise from the prior round is Willis beating one of the tournament favorites Victor Cruz. Willis is the only defensive player to have shown any measure of strength in the cover voting. Despite that both Newton and Megatron have smoked every one of their c...
