MyCareer is the most popular mode in the NBA 2K series and for good reason. Starting in 2K14 it became more of a story mode than a standard career mode and has benefited greatly from that by providing a uniquely compelling experience that is unmatched in the genre. In 2K15 there's a brand new storyline which will click with some, various improvements and additions made, and some areas where it could really use some work.  (more…)...

by Brendan Wilhide In Motorsport Manager, a new release for iOS devices, you guide a professional race team to glory in a fictitious open wheel racing league. As both general manager and crew chief you sign drivers and sponsors, set in-race strategy, and manage almost every aspect of a professional race team. The result is an impressive mix of engaging gameplay and challenging strategy. Starting at the bottom rung of the British Racing Series in the newest open wheel racing circuit in ...

Mobile games these days are largely dominated by free-to-play offerings that pressure users to spend money. Often it's about spending money just to be able to continue playing the game rather than the more traditional paying for optional upgrades or bonus content. This has resulted in a reliance on "whales" - the incredibly small percentage of users that account for the majority of the revenue - and creating a game that will hook them. They'd rather do that than make the game fun and invitin...
  • Madden NFL 15: Top Likes and Dislikes

For years Madden has been a decent game that could be enjoyed by overlooking its considerable flaws and deficiencies which have generated frustration yet avoided game-breaking status. For many that was possible and the value was there, for some it was still too much to get past. That really hasn't changed with Madden NFL 15 which has improved in several areas of need but come up short yet again in others. What's different this time is the number of options that change the way you can p...
  • EA Sports UFC: Hits and Misses

Hope for the future of UFC games were high when EA Sports announced the acquisition of the license just over two years ago. There was to be significant development time and investment made prior to release of the first entry in the series, it would launch on the new systems and have an opportunity similar to how Fight Night Round 3 stood out early in the previous generation, and the company was coming off a good first effort in the sport with 2010's EA Sports MMA. It's especially di...

by Dylan Favorite I have been eagerly anticipating the release of EA Sports UFC since it was officially announced two years ago. Unfortunately, after spending a good chunk of time with it, I can say that it is considerably flawed. I have enjoyed all of the past UFC games from Undisputed 2009 to EA MMA. I would consider myself well versed in both the games and the sport. This version just falls flat in some key areas. (more…)...
  • EA Sports UFC Demo Impressions

The demo for EA Sports UFC holds a great deal of importance for the new series. The goal with it is to appeal to both the hardcore fight fans and a more casual crowd while also trying to shake off the stigma of the THQ series which lost 70% of its consumer base over the course of three releases. UFC 2009 Undisputed had a demo that was so dynamic and exciting it propelled the launch to heights well beyond what THQ had forecasted. It allowed the game to attract a crowd that wasn't limited t...
  • FIFA 14 World Cup Ultimate Team Potential Thwarted by Gameplay Regression

The free content for FIFA 14 on all platforms arrived late last week and with it some hope that it could be a good compliment, and maybe even a substitute, for the 2014 FIFA World Cup game that released only on 360 and PS3. Obviously the addition to FIFA 14 was never going to provide the same depth as that standalone game but it was also offering something completely different. A free entry point into a unique Ultimate Team mode where money could be spent but didn't necessarily need to be. Ã...
