Madden NFL 11 iPhone Impressions
By Corey Andress
Going into the 2010-11 NFL season EA is giving its popular Madden franchise another shot on the iPhone platform. So far EA’s simulation football titles haven’t fared very well in porting over to mobile form. Although Madden NFL 10 was okay for a first attempt it failed to spark any excitement at all for sim fans such as myself. NCAA followed, and was by far one of the worst sports titles I’ve ever played for the iPhone. Gameloft’s attempts havenââ...
Madden NFL 11 Online Impressions
After a few days with Madden 11 online I've put together some impressions covering general ranked/unranked games, the addition of scouting reports, Madden Ultimate Team, and Online Team Play. Overall the online performance seems to be up to par but some design decisions have hurt the overall experience.

NFL 2011 (Gameloft) iPhone Impressions
By Corey Andress
With the NFL season around the corner, August is normally a time for gamers to get a taste of the pro gridiron. This year the NFL comes to us in two different forms on the iPhone platform. Gameloft’s NFL 2011 and EA Sports’ Madden NFL ‘11. With EA clearly being a leader when it comes to the sports genre Gameloft did the smart thing by releasing NFL 2011 a week before its big named competitor.
Gameloft secured the NFL license last year for use on the iPh...
Madden NFL 11 Full Impressions
For Madden 11 EA Sports decided to take the approach of making the game ultra-accessible and in doing so may have alienated some of the dedicated gamers who buy the game on a year-to-year basis. Madden 11 certainly remains fun though and has its bright spots but at the same time houses some nagging flaws and omissions. Continue on for my detailed impressions of Madden 11 having taken a ton of notes through my play time with the game. There are also additional screenshots and videos to be had. ...
NBA Live 10 Initial Impressions
The NBA Live series comes into this year with increased expectations after primarily concentrating efforts on improving the gameplay experience rather than adding in new modes. While EA has built out a good feature set the last few years, the primary focus of gameplay was necessary and appears to have paid off if gamer response and early reviews are to be believed.
Continue on for my observations from playing NBA Live 10 over the last few days. Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comm...
NBA 2K10 My Player Impressions
I have a love-hate relationship with career modes in sports titles. I appreciate the ability to control a single player which in turn simplifies the games and presents clear objectives and measurements of success. At the same time I've always come across certain aspects that have soured the overall experience. Those conflicting feelings continue with NBA 2K10's My Player mode.
My first thought after spending time with My Player is that it's obviously vastly superior to what was offered wi...
NBA 2K10 Initial Impressions
Having spent a significant amount of time with NBA 2K10 over the last few days it felt like a good time to post some of my general impressions of the game thus far. Of course make sure to watch the videos I've posted to make your own judgments on some of the strengths and weaknesses. The demo will be out tomorrow for the 360 exclusively with the Magic @ Lakers in a single four minute quarter. From the way things have been explained it sounds like the PS3 won't see it until next Thursday. At ...
The BIGS 2 Initial Impressions
With all that has been going on lately I haven't had much chance to delve into The BIGS 2. This being the sequel to one of my favorite sports games of this generation I had high hopes. At the same time I somewhat expected it to not achieve those hopes because the original was such a surprise and it would only be building off of that. From the demo it was clear the game would remain similar enough but with several enhancements to the experience though a questionable change to the camera. Woul...
