One of the big selling points of NBA Jam for the 360 and PS3 was the inclusion of online play. Beyond just the typical head-to-head, EA Sports delivered on a variety of modes to play online. The potential for NBA Jam to be one of the most enjoyable online experiences available was evident but unfortunately that hasn't turned out to be the case. (more…)...

Game Party: In Motion released two weeks after the wave of launch titles that arrived alongside Kinect for Xbox 360. The game attempts to present an amusement park and arcade atmosphere with mini-games that fit those respective environments.  A total of 16 mini-games have been included, some of which are mildly enjoyable but not terrible compelling, while others are downright awful. By: Brian Sipple Whenever a publisher holds off on releasing information for an upcoming title gamers have a legitimate reason to start casting doubts in its direction. When delays pile up, demos get canceled, and early reviews are embargoed, it’s surely going to raise a couple of eyebrows. What do you though when a game appears seemingly out of thin air? When all of a sudden you hear somewhere about a game being released that few people knew was even being made? Such is the case with UF...

NBA Jam does many things well but still faces quite a bit of scrutiny. Arguably the biggest question centers on value given that EA Sports eroded the brand by advertising it as being "free" with NBA Elite 11. Value is always a subjective thing but I don't see that being the problem with the game. Various gameplay frustrations and some issues with online play though have soured me on NBA Jam already which doesn't bode well going forward. (more…)...

While my overall thoughts on the Kinect system have been surprisingly positive, when it comes to software there have been some very good games that take advantage of the technology and some disappointing ones. Kinect Sports quickly became my favorite game and over the last two weeks that feeling has not worn off. There are a couple very fun and addictive sports included along with a deep set of features including online play and Facebook tie-in "leagues". (more…)...

By: Brian Sipple Thanks to its main catalyst, the UFC, mixed martial arts has launched itself towards the mainstream of our culture since the beginning of this century. THQ acquired the rights in 2007 to develop titles with the UFC name and saw a huge initial success with UFC 2009 Undisputed. Not to be outdone EA decided to enter the genre with its own non-licensed MMA product that still managed to grab names like Randy Couture and Fedor Emelianenko. EA Sports MMA hit the App Store a short...

By Brian Sipple Last week’s obituary for NBA Elite 11 on the major platforms came as no surprise after all the tribulation the series has faced in recent months. A few loyal fans will tell you that they were really looking forward to EA’s newly reinvented franchise, and that the game was only canceled because it was deemed to have too much awesomeness for public consumption. For the most part though Elite received constant criticism throughout its development, culminating with the release...
