Fight Night Champion is being sold by EA Sports on the strength of its "Champion" story mode. Certainly on a personal level the mode is what I was looking forward to most, having never been a huge fan of the Fight Night series though still recognizing its achievements. After completing it in 3 hours and 19 minutes of play-time here are my full thoughts on "Champion" mode. Warning: There are minor spoilers contained within this review. (more…)...

Many gamers had seemingly been on the fence regarding MLB 11: The Show heading into its demo release on Tuesday. I certainly fell amongst them, and in the end I could end up being disappointed yet again if the online play remains dismal. However after having spent a good deal of time with the demo I can safely say that what had been largely stale is no longer thanks in large part to the new analog controls. (more…)...

By Brian Sipple If asked about the best arcade games of all time, most of us (being sports gamers) would no doubt include NBA Jam among our top picks. It's pure and simple, slam-dunking fun will forever have a place in our hearts – even for Bulls fans, who could never quite beat the Pistons. So when EA Sports decided to reboot the franchise into the 21st Century, it came as no surprise to fans who lauded the idea of hearing “Boomshakalaka!” in Dolby 5.1. Now though you can take it a ...

The Fight Night Champion demo released yesterday with a full month to go until the game hits store shelves. Reaction has been mixed though a segment of the community has been highly critical. Over the years the boxing community has proven to be extraordinarily passionate and outspoken regarding any gripes or perceived slights in games representing the sport. Some of the complaining at the forefront of FNC seems justified in this case as the gameplay, at least at first, seems to appeal more to ...

Yesterday marked the launch of EA Sports PGA Tour Golf Challenge on Facebook. Another in the line of free-to-play but microtransaction based games, Golf Challenge delivers advancement in the form of real-time 3D gameplay. Early issues have resulted in frustration but getting beyond that the game has its share of impressive elements that go beyond what would be expected of a typical Facebook game. (more…)...

The arrival of the Kinect Sports "Party Pack" downloadable content was a pleasant surprise especially considering it was being provided for free. Kinect Sports already carried a number of mini-games for each sport but the DLC provided a new one for each. Though the DLC only adds a little in the way of depth and variety through the new mini-games they actually turn out to be worthwhile additions. (more…)...

Originally developed to be a free Xbox Live Arcade game, Joy Ride was tapped to be converted to a Kinect launch game while still in development. While the XBLA version was going to be free it was going to be supported through microtransactions. Now though it has hit the marketplace as a full priced Kinect title with the motion control support implemented. Unfortunately the final product feels it would have been more appropriate as an XBLA offering. (more…)...

By: Brian Sipple The sports gaming version of Barack Obama running a campaign of hopeful and exciting promises to revamp a struggling nation, Backbreaker was marketed as the ultimate anti-Madden, the game that – with the use of its Euphoria physics engine – would give those who felt beleaguered from EA’s exclusive NFL license a formidable alternative. Although before being patched, the console version received reviews slightly more positive than the Democratic Party’s election results...
