Initial Impressions of NFL Blitz
The last attempt at a pure arcade-style football game came from EA Sports in late 2009 with Madden NFL Arcade. It represented one of the first attempts by a sports developer to release a full-fledged offering digitally through XBLA and PSN. Though quite fun it ultimately didn't extend much beyond just that and thus died off relatively quickly.
With NFL Blitz the company has hoped to resurrect a beloved franchise and provide more significant content to make for an ideal $15 package. They h...
NFL Flick Quarterback Impressions
The line of "Flick" games from Full Fat on iOS and Android have become really popular this year. Though simple they are well designed and have the quick and addictive nature that is critical for success on mobile devices.
NFL Flick Quarterback arrived for the iPad ($4.99) and iPhone and Android ($2.99) in late November and since then it has become one of my go-to-games when there are a few minutes to burn. Right now a holiday sale is ongoing and all versions are 99 cents! (more…)...
Kinect Sports: Season Two Impressions
With the first year anniversary of Kinect for Xbox 360's release having just passed it's interesting to study how much (if enough) the hardware and it's implementation in games has advanced over that time. Kinect Sports was one of the early favorites utilizing the controller-less system last year and now the follow-up has arrived with Kinect Sports: Season Two.
The result is a somewhat more defined product that carries with it most of the faults of the original - and without some of the c...
FIFA 12 Shines with Online Seasons
The mode in FIFA 12 that has captured the most of my play-time has been online 'Head-to-Head Seasons'. Reminiscent of 2010 FIFA World Cup in that it offers a ladder of sorts in "divisions" it adds in a fantastic new way of matchmaking which creates the most fair of pairings possible.
Despite the struggles with my record all of the games have been thoroughly enjoyable - making it something I want to come back to as often as possible even when anticipating a loss. For anything online relate...

It was always going to be difficult to top what was practically universally beloved in NBA 2K11 - and the league lockout only introduced an additional obstacle in the way of doing so. NBA 2K12 is one of the most top heavy sports titles imaginable. What it does well is exceedingly impressive but faulty features or those that dont live up to potential do enough damage to affect the overall perception and complete value of the product. Continue on for a look at what NBA 2K12 got right and where...
NBA 2K12 Impressions: Online Play
It has now been a full week since NBA 2K12 arrived - plenty of time to iron out standard online play issues the accompany the typical release frame.
It is especially worrisome then that online play has yet to see marked improvement. Server issues, lag/disconnects, and removed features all add up to arguably the worst online experience for a major sports title in recent memory. (more…)...
NBA 2K12 Impressions: My Player
2K Sports has spent a great deal of effort hyping up the improvements to My Player mode for NBA 2K12. While there are a few worthwhile additions there are numerous fundamental flaws that are impossible to ignore. My Player remains one of the better career modes in sports gaming considering what it attempts but the on-court experience is still lacking and the trade logic is beyond troubled marring the overall experience significantly. (more…)...
NBA 2K12 Impressions: NBA’s Greatest
There is no doubt what mode shines this year for NBA 2K12 - not just in concept but also in execution. NBA's Greatest mode delivers some fantastic historic teams in a setting representative of their day. In a year marred by the league lockout it successfully energizes the product while continuing to educate fans. (more…)...
