Comedy is the central theme of this week's DVD/Blu-ray releases as a few high profile ones from earlier this year arrive along with Blu-ray versions of a couple classics. Amazon is running a deal through November 15th where ordering two of the following titles on Blu-ray will save $10: Dazed and Confused, National Lampoon's Animal House, The Blues Brothers, Paul, Your Highness, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Four of those six release this week and the other two were n...

After two dreadful weeks of releases, things pick up a little this week. While the week may not be spectacular, one movie stands out as one you should surely see. Harry Brown stars Michael Caine as a fed up citizen who becomes a vigilante. Think a British Gran Torino sans the blatant racism. It did pretty well in reviews and scored a 67% 'Fresh Rating' on Rottentomatoes.com. At the very least give it a rent. Here is the full release schedule broken up by standard DVD and Blu-ray: (more&...

Once again it's another slow week for releases. Lost fans can look forward to the series coming out on Blu-ray. On the movie side the only movie that I saw on the list was The Back-up Plan. I'd pass on this romantic comedy since it's just like every other one that is out there. Not to mention it only received a 20% on Rottentomatoes.com. This is arguably the worst week of the year for movie releases. There isn't a single movie worth buying, and maybe even renting. For example, Furry Vengeance received only an 8% on Rottentomatoes.com, simply rotten. Good luck finding any movies releasing that are much better. The month of July ends on a positive note. There are a handful of good movies releasing in hi-def. The big name hitting stores is Clash of the Titans. The remake only scored a 29% 'Fresh Rating' on Rottentoamtoes.com, but it did make over $100 million. If there was ever a week for Sylvester Stallone fans to rejoice, this is the week. A few of Sly's movies are making their way to Blu-ray this week. Here is the full release schedule broken up by standard DVD and Blu-ray: (more…)...

After a bad week of releases, this week doesn't get much better. Nothing really stands out, except the The Losers. The action film scored a 47% on Rottentomatoes.com, which is a bit surprising to me. Pastapadre reviewed the film and gave it only 1 1/2 stars, so needless to say it might not even worth a rental. This might be one of the worst and most boring weeks for movie releases. Nothing really stands out as a 'must-buy'. I did have the misfortune of seeing The Bounty Hunter, and many critics would agree with me when I say this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It received only an 8% 'Fresh Rating' on Rottentomatoes.com. Chloe was a decent movie, but a bit weird at times. Here is the full release schedule broken up by standard DVD and Blu-ray: (more…)...

There isn't much releasing this week. The movie that really stands out is Brooklyn's Finest. The drama received mixed reviews and scored only a 43% 'Fresh Rating' on Rottentomatoes.com. Although the film was somewhat cliche and predictable, I really enjoyed it. The cast is loaded with plenty of big names as well.
