Two films on completely different paths arrive at the box office this weekend. Toy Story 3 is certain to be huge and the buzz is astoundingly high, while Jonah Hex is expected to bomb with buzz that couldn't be much worse. 15 years after the original and 11 years after the sequel Toy Story 3 is storming theaters with hopes of being a record breaker. It will have a chance to be the biggest June opening ever. The record is currently held by last year's Transformers 2 with $108 million and in ...

With Iron Man 2 having unofficially kicked-off the summer movie season two weeks ago the next blockbuster arrives in theaters  with the final chapter to the Shrek series (and in 3D). The other new release is the SNL skit adaptation MacGruber. All the important pieces are back for the final Shrek film and with higher ticket prices due to 3D screenings it is primed for a huge opening. While this will be the last Shrek there are plans for spin-offs for some characters despite getting some c...

Expected to be the biggest movie of the summer Iron Man 2 rolls into theaters today. Not surprisingly no other studio wanted to take on Tony Stark, and the only other release is the documentary Babies. The big question is can Iron Man 2 break the opening record currently held by The Dark Knight? (more…)...

Coming off a very flat weekend at the box office one movie hopes to provide a jolt, though it is unlikely to be enough to carry the Top 10 back over the $100 million mark. The reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street will easily capture the top spot while Furry Vengeance as the other new entry will be largely ignored. (more…)...

Last weekend it was Kick-Ass finishing atop the box office. This time around another comic adaptation, The Losers, hopes to grab the crown. The other new entry is the Jennifer Lopez romantic comedy The Back-Up Plan. The Losers focuses on a CIA special-ops team that are set up and left for dead, they then work to enact revenge on the man responsible. Make sure to check out my review here. The cast is full of strong personalities, most notably Chris Evans, but there are no standout names that...

Two new entries hit the box office this weekend that have high levels of awareness and expectation. Kick-Ass has been getting a lot of attention based on moviegoer response while Death at a Funeral presents a remake of a film just three years old. Both should do well, with Kick-Ass having an extremely strong long term prognosis and the potential to be a breakout hit. Opening to high levels of anticipation is the comic book adaptation Kick-Ass. Having seen the movie almost six weeks ago it h...
