Stephen Lang Returning for Next Three Avatar Films

Three Sequels Now Planned for Avatar
Two planned follow-ups to the biggest movie of all-time has now expanded to three. Fox and James Cameron have agreed to up the number of Avatar sequels with plans for release in December 2016, 2017, and 2018.
Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds), Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Planet of the Apes), and Shane Salerno (Savages) have been tasked with writing the scripts. The three movies will be filmed simultaneously.

Avatar 2 and 3 Made Official
James Cameron has signed on to write and direct Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 Variety reports. The plan is for him to begin working on the scripts early next year with Avatar 2 releasing in December 2014 and Avatar 3 December 2015. There had been speculation that Cameron would take on a different project before getting into the sequel but the news confirms these two movies will be next on his slate.

Avatar Extended CE Release Announced
Fox has released the details on the Avatar Extended Collector's Edition release which will be coming to Blu-ray and DVD on November 16th. Special features include an extended length cut of the film which has 16 extra minutes of footage, documentaries, behind the scenes featurettes, and over 45 minutes of deleted scenes. The highest grossing film of all time is set to return to theaters exclusively in Digital 3D and IMAX 3D on August 27th. Avatar Sets First Day Sales Record
The highest grossing movie of all-time has now also captured the title of fasting selling Blu-ray in history. Avatar sold 1.5 million copies on its first day of release breaking the record previously held by The Dark Knight. The movie hit stores yesterday with an unorthodox plan of coming out on a Thursday to coincide with Earth Day. Fox today announced its plans for Avatar's release on DVD and Blu-ray and they are somewhat unconventional, though with James Cameron and the biggest movie of all-time involved that shouldn't come as a big surprise.
