Amazon has scored a big win for it's Prime instant streaming service. Beginning May 21st HBO content will be added to the streaming library - something previously only available to those with an HBO subscription through On-Demand or HBO GO. While it won't feature recent showings of every series - don't expect Game of Thrones to be on there for a few years as an example - it will have all the episodes of past ones like The Sopranos, Deadwood, Rome, Band of Brothers, The Wire, and Six Fe...
  • Zombieland Series Passed Over by Amazon

With Amazon making decisions on whether to pick up or pass on their 14 original series pilots for their instant streaming service the most prominent one has already been shot down. Zombieland, from the creators of the movie (which was originally envisioned as a television show), will not be getting an order for more episodes. Heavy negative response to the pilot - which was legitimately terrible and the decision to recast the same characters from the film misguided - was likely the determ...

Amazon may look to launch a content-streaming box late this year according to BusinessWeek. It would be competing with other established products which offer a wide array of options including Roku, Apple TV, Xbox 360, PS3, and the next consoles from Microsoft and Sony due out by the holidays. It's unclear if it will have a hook that differentiates from the others or if they may try to simply do so by offering them at a low price. Just last week Amazon launched 14 original comedy and child...

Not to be left behind by Netflix, Amazon's instant streaming service has continued to work towards offering its own original programming. Now available to watch are the pilots for 14 different comedy or children's series with the biggest being Zombieland. The shows are free for those with an Amazon Prime subscription. All the pilots can be found on this Amazon page. Interestingly viewer response will help determine which shows get picked up for full runs. Amazon will count how many peo...

Before it was a hit movie Zombieland was originally envisioned as a television series. That plan is now coming to fruition as a Zombieland show is in the works and, even more interestingly, will reportedly be available only though Amazon's Instant Video service. While Netflix has been pulling together their own original programming with the likes of Arrested Development's return, Lilyhammer, and House of Cards, this would represent the first major move by Amazon to do the same and pack in mo...
