The third major patch for NBA 2K18 has released on PlayStation 4 and will be coming to Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch in the coming days. 2K18’s first patch of real substance released at the end of September and addressed a framerate problem following timeouts and made attribute ratings visible when purchasing upgrades in MyCareer. The second patch was more wide-ranging, heavily affecting gameplay and all the various modes.
This new update prepares the game for the Xbox One X with 4K capability ready at launch next week, fixes the foul out bug for MyTeam that was accidentally introduced in the last patch, makes a change to curtail the zig-zag dribbling to shot exploit, and much more. Read more
Electronic Arts reported on financials yesterday for Q2 2018, the period that stretched from July through September of 2017. EA Sports games naturally played a big role in the company’s success with the stock currently just under its all-time high. Some interesting news came out of the results related to Madden NFL 18, NHL 18, FIFA Mobile, EA Sports UFC 3, and the EA Access subscription service. Read more

Mutant Football League has reached its full official release following a month under Early Access through Steam. That period of time was used to make a number of improvements based on feedback and included the addition of an option for game speed.
MFL is currently available for PC for $25 with planned releases on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 early next year. Interestingly however a note posted by creator Michael Mendheim today hints at some news later in the week for those waiting for the console versions by stating “your time is coming… for some of you, sooner than you think.” That now looks to be a release on Xbox One through the Xbox Game Preview Program. Read more
Not much has been heard on Tennis World Tour since the original announcement of its existence back in May but that changed today with the debut of its first trailer out of Paris Games Week. A release window of spring has now been revealed for the simulation game, pinning it between late March and late June.
The trailer provides the very first look at the game but doesn’t offer much of substance besides the inclusion of Roger Federer and Gaël Monfils, who were among the names already known to be on the roster which is said to contain over 30 licensed stars of the sport.
This will be the first tennis game to release on the current generation of consoles. The last ones made were Grand Slam Tennis 2 in 2012 and both Top Spin 4 and Virtua Tennis 4 in 2011. The cost of development, and especially the licensing of individual athletes, venues, and tournaments, caused those companies to abandon their franchises.
Games on mobile like Madden, FIFA, NBA Live, and WWE SuperCard have proven to be incredibly successful and PES Mobile has joined that group since its release in May.
Though Pro Evolution Soccer Mobile is already largely based on its MyClub team-building mode model, Konami released today a spinoff called PES Card Collection available via iTunes for iOS and Google Play for Android. The game is more heavily focused on that card collecting element and card battling but still includes gameplay utilizing the same engine as found in the console version and even the ability for matches with all 22 players user controlled. Read more
