The other top MVP candidates find themselves rated 98 (Tom Brady) and 87 (Carson Wentz).

The NBA Live series has lacked the ability to edit players going all the way back to the reboot that was NBA Live 14. Despite being one of the most requested features by the basketball gaming community EA Sports failed to provide player editing abilities in the titles that have since followed including this year’s NBA Live 18. Now though, with a post-release patch that released today, player editing has returned to the Live franchise. Read more

With the beta for EA Sports UFC 3 coming to a close today the upcoming release of the game is starting to come into better focus. Over the last week we’ve been provided an opportunity to try out the changes in gameplay both against the CPU and opponents online, along with the new model being utilized by Ultimate Team.
UFC is now a product that is angling more towards dedicated MMA fans with EA recognizing that it simply isn’t going to reach a wider audience than that. Still it’s clear that the most accessible element of the sport that translates to the game, the stand-up, has received the most work while action on the ground remains largely unchanged and difficult for many to grasp and enjoy. The game’s career mode, which is taking on aspects such as fight promotion and rivalries, will hopefully deliver a compelling reason to play something other than online over the long term.
Impressions were discussed on the latest podcast but what are your feelings on the game coming out of the beta? Vote in the poll below and leave any thoughts in the comments.
After a drought of six years tennis fans have not just one but two video games to look forward to in the near future. Big Ant Studios has been behind numerous sports games representing rugby, cricket, lacrosse and others with their next product the debut of AO Tennis. Technically it’ll be the first tennis game to release on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Read more
With the recent debates over video game monetization – and the arguably predatory practices that may warrant classification as gambling – gaining even more steam the place to look for the most immediate impact is on Wall Street. Investors hate uncertainty but that’s exactly what the clash between publishers and consumers has brought about as the gravy train planned for the years ahead has seemingly gone off the tracks.
It’s not just the sense that the latter has stood up to the tactics being enabled in popular games forcing adjustments to be made but lawmakers in the US have started to take notice and other countries are beginning to recognize the loot box/card pack model as gambling.
EA’s stock dropped another 5% today, and now since the end of October it is down 15%. That’s a loss in Market Cap of nearly $6 billion which is astounding. It’s not just EA though that has taken a major hit. Take Two fell 8% today and is down 14% in the last two weeks. There’s also Activision which is down 11% in the last week.
It’s important however to acknowledge that these stocks had been rising for some time continually breaking all-time highs. EA’s stock is still 32% above where it was on this same date last year. Take Two is up 112% in the same time period.
A correction may have been overdue for these stocks but there’s no doubt that the potential of unlimited revenue out of games built with that in mind had been tantalizing for both the publishers and investors. With it becoming clearer that major changes will have to be enacted one way or the other the future financials may not be as promising as once hoped.

A new survey has been sent out by EA Sports to select customers providing insight on what is being considered for NHL 19 and beyond. These surveys have been distributed for various games in the past and have been shown to reflect ideas that may already be in a stage of development, with the results helping EA determine what makes the final product and what is scrapped or held for future editions. The plan for the arcade mode NHL Threes for instance was first discovered through one of the surveys in 2015 before being introduced in NHL 18.
Areas of focus for NHL 19 could be in the game’s presentation, career mode, All-Time teams, Franchise Mode scouting, and player differentiation. Read more
