Changes that have been made to EA Sports UFC 3 based on feedback out of the beta continue to be detailed with a new video explaining what has been done to make knockouts look more natural and noting that a specific camera zoom in the moment has been removed. Previous videos have focused largely on stamina and animation speeds.

For the first time the Press Row Podcast awards its Racing Game of the Year. 2017 was a banner year for racers, with a slew high quality releases that featured every kind of racing imaginable. Simulation titles, arcade games, cars, bikes, and karts all made big noise this year.
To settle on a champion, noted friends of the show and avid racing game fans Greg Sewart, Dr. Ken Parker, Pete Dodd, and Dave Benrey gathered with Rich Grisham to count down their top three favorites and determine which stands atop the podium at the end of the year.

Coming out of the beta for EA Sports UFC 3 the developers have considerable feedback which they are acting upon to improve the game in advance of its release at the end of January. Earlier this week a video showed off the changes that have been made to stamina. Now another video goes into detail on adjustments to slow down the speed of certain combos, submission escapes being made more reasonable, and more related to striking and countering.

With 2017 coming to a close it’s time to look back on the developments that have taken place and acknowledge the various efforts in sports gaming. The next category in the annual Community Awards is open for voting. You can check out the winners from previous years here.
Best Gameplay and Best Career/Story Mode can already be voted on! Categories still to come include Sports Game of the Year, Best New or Non-Yearly Sports Game, Best Mobile Game, Best Racing Game, Best Online Play, Best Presentation, Best Post-Release Support, Best New Feature, and Best Team-Building Mode. All winners will be announced in early January.
The best traditional franchise modes at one time were found in EA Sports football games, with NCAA Football and Madden NFL having taken the first four awards handed out in the category. More recently however it’s been all about NBA 2K which this year looks to go for a fourth straight win with its pairing of the highly-customizable MyLeague and the now story-based MyGM. Challenging this year are FIFA 18 which introduced interactive transfer negotiations and NHL 18 which added league expansion abilities.
Last month NBA Live 18 was available for $15 on both PS4 and Xbox One which was a great price for a game featuring a really strong career mode, enjoyable gameplay, and absence of pressure/necessity to spend more money on an in-game currency.
Now the price is even better on PS4 where the game can be had for just $10. This sale is expected to last until December 26 and is available to PlayStation Plus subscribers.
One of the primary benefits to early betas for sports games has been the ability for developers to collect feedback and make adjustments prior to their respective releases. EA Sports UFC 3 is still over a month away from releasing but it’ll be doing so in a better state due to the beta. One area that has been a focus for improvement is the fighter stamina, where expending more energy over the course of the fight will put individuals at a greater disadvantage than before.

Next up is the Best Career/Story Mode which is a category that has been one of the most diverse in terms of nominees and winners. MLB The Show and NBA 2K have each won it multiple times but neither earned a nomination for 2017. FIFA 17 took home the award last year with the debut of The Journey and FIFA 18 has a chance to repeat with its second season. Longshot from Madden NFL 18 and The One from NBA Live 18 both emerged as strong contenders and were arguably the most effective and well-received additions made by each franchise.
