Though Sony’s “Cross-Buy” program, which offers a free digital version for the Vita when a PS3 copy is purchased, has not been extended to MLB 13: The Show there is a deal in place that will at least provide a discount for those who are interested in buying both. Similar to last year a combo offer is being made in which $20 is shaved off the total combined price making the pair $80. Amazon has the deal live now.
Last year the combo deal was announced at the last minute – the Friday prior to release – but was extended through the first month it was out. It’s unclear what deadline there may be for MLB 13 but certainly it will apply to all pre-orders and this time around with plenty of lead time. Currently Amazon is the only retailer with the deal in place but it’s likely that others will follow.
EA Sports has released a new video highlighting the Legends of the Majors mode being introduced in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14. The mode involves taking a created golfer from the 1930′s to present day and facing off against names like Seve Ballesteros, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Sam Snead, Lee Trevino, Arnold Palmer, Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, and Woods. Each challenge will be unique to its time…not just in who is involved but with special presentation and how the game will actually play differently.
The video shows off the timeline, made up of six different “eras” the first of which begins in 1873, which consists of a number of various challenges leading up to essentially a “boss battle” against a legend with the created golfer. There is also footage along the way providing an opportunity to see the attempt at the true-to-its-time visual presentation. Read more

EA Sports continues to try and milk the cover campaign for NCAA Football 14 even though it hasn’t been able to create the awareness they had hoped. The latest act comes as individual cover athletes can now be shown support through a “like” on the NCAA 14 Facebook page. Presumably these totals will be added into the primary poll which has been up for two weeks. The round will come to a close on February 18. Read more
Recent developments have brought into question whether EA will be supporting the Nintendo Wii U in a reliable manner going forward. At the Q3 financial call last week CEO John Riccitiello made sure to avoid lumping the relatively new console in with the company’s definition of the next generation of gaming. Read more
As we all acclimate to the name Madden NFL 25 there will scraps of news relating to the game in the weeks ahead. Though certainly that won’t amount to any major feature announcements – the process of the cover vote instead will serve as the early awareness driver for EA Sports – that information could still serve to be valuable even when limited in scope.
In this case Josh Looman, the lead designer in charge of Connected Careers, sought feedback on Twitter regarding tuning that could be done to improve the progression system in the mode. After receiving suggestions he posted up what he perceived to be the top ten areas of interest. He also answered questions relating to some other aspects of the mode. Read more
