Expectations for MLB 2K13 are lower than ever for the much maligned series after getting a one year reprieve. With three weeks to go until release no information on any potential improvements have been detailed and all that has been seen is a single sub-par screenshot. The one thing 2K Sports is willing to discuss though is the Perfect Game Challenge.

Instead of just a single $1 million winner 2K13 will split the cash between 30 people (one perfect game for every MLB team) with each receiving $25K. The “top” 4 qualifying games, presumably measured by a method of scoring due to difficulty of achievement, will then have a chance at winning an additional $250K in a live battle.

Though it was mired in controversy due to cheating the actual format of 2K12’s competition was a big improvement over the prior two years. With 2K13 providing more hope for winning a significant prize it could expand any interest in taking part even further.

    usedgames

Rumors of technology being implemented in consoles to block used games are nothing new. In the lead-up to the Xbox 360 and PS3 there were rumblings that were unsubstantiated and now they’ve surfaced again. The latest unverified reports, which focus on the next Xbox though similar news earlier related to the PS4, are harder to ignore given the push towards a digital future and the restrictiveness that has been escalating throughout the current generation.  Read more

  • Details on Improvements to Franchise Mode in MLB 13: The Show

SCEA today released a new developer video going over some of the enhancements that have been made to Franchise mode for MLB 13: The Show. The mode was voted as the most anticipated for improvements but until now not much in the way of details on what to expect had been disseminated besides a few brief mentions about team budgets being based on performance and team-specific player valuations made in the features list.

The video provides a look at some of the redesigned menus while going over other changes like the return of organizational depth charts, the ability to see the upcoming class of free agents, individualized training assignments, an overhaul to scouting, and a franchise ticker to display news from around the league. It’s also worth noting that the series is finally introducing numbered player ratings rather than relying solely on “bars”. • Madden NFL 13 Roster Update #22 Details

    m130207

The roster update following the Super Bowl for Madden NFL 13 is expected to release by Saturday for the Xbox 360 and PS3. In what is likely to be the last of the year this update focuses of course on the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers with just a couple other transactions including the release of Titus Young from the Lions. The Rams were the only team to place a waiver claim in for him but that is probably going to be considered an off-season move that won’t be reflected in Madden 13 as with any cuts that have happened since.

The Ravens come away +7 and 49ers -3 in net gain players up vs down. The most notable ratings changes include Joe Flacco jumping to 93 after his stellar playoff run and Jacoby Jones moving up to 81 after exploding in the Super Bowl. Colin Kaepernick ends the season at 89 and Ray Lewis drops again after another sub-par performance to finish his career at 90. Continue on for all the changes in the next Madden NFL 13 roster update!  Read more

•Addresses error when trying to access Pro Clubs.
•Reduction in disconnects to EA Servers and Football Club while in menus or gameplay.
•Addresses issue in Creation Centre where some licensed kits were displayed incorrectly.

•Snow will again be a random weather option in Pro Clubs.

  • Tiger Woods 14 Returning to Traditional DLC Model for Acquiring Extra Courses
    by

    tiger140206

Last year in Tiger Woods 13 EA Sports introduced a system where courses available as DLC could be earned without paying for them. In theory through the normal course of play “coins” would be earned that could then be used instead to get them. At the time it sounded as though it would be appealing for consumers. The choice would be to put in the work necessary to be granted enough “coins” to obtain a new course or pay outright and not have to go through all that trouble and the time investment doing so would require.  Read more
