SCEA has released a new developer video for MLB 13: The Show this time focusing on the introduction of The Show Live. The new feature delivers the ability to play any game on the schedule for the 2013 season with MLB.com feeding the proper lineups and statistics. The presentation and commentary will reflect that point in time.

The concept is not new – having been featured in the NBA Live, NBA 2K, and MLB 2K franchises – but arguably could be best suited for baseball if supported properly throughout the year. MLB 2K has not been able to do that but confidence in SCEA would be much higher in this regard. Continue on to check out the video and leave any thoughts in the comments! Read more

As reported here last month and from multiple other sources the WWE license has been obtained by Take Two the parent company of 2K Sports. Having been noted previously SCEA is shifting away from a “bar” representing a player’s overall skill level and going to a numbered ratings system with MLB 13: The Show. Of course those numbers existed in past iterations they were just hidden away which makes it interesting to find out just how players stacked up then compared to new edition out next month.

Apparenlty MLB 12 featured a mindboggling 44 players rated 99 overall while a change to the positional weight of individual attributes has reduced that number to 17 in MLB 13. The information comes from a post over at Operation Sports. The Los Angeles Angels lead the way with 3 players at the pinnacle and a few others that are sure to be close. Continue on for the list of players who’ll start MLB 13 rated 99. Read more

The recent discussion surrounding the dismal outlook of sports gaming on the Wii U was predicated on the appearance that EA Sports could be abandoning the console already and that regardless it’ll be left behind when the next Xbox and PS4 arrive late this year.

Though there is still little evidence that the Wii U will ever be more than the afterthought it is now for sports it may still at least end up getting entries from the larger franchises. A thread on Neogaf includes some insight from an EA producer implying that the Tiger Woods series will make its way over in 2014.  Read more

A new roster update arrived today for NBA 2K13 closing what became a two week gap without one. The focus in the update was clearly on adjusting injuries with any potential ratings changes taking a back seat until later. Alvin Gentry remains on the sidelines for the Phoenix Suns having yet to be replaced by Lindsey Hunter.

    Ratings Down: None

Injury Status: Thaddeus Young (-6 to 68), Jason Richardson (-12 to 62), Byron Mullens (returns to 69), Daniel Gibson (returns to 65), Jared Sullinger (-6 to 66), Chris Paul (returns to 94), Chauncey Billups (returns to 81), Quincy Pondexter (returns to 61), Gordon Heyward (-11 to 57), Pau Gasol (-19 to 62), Deron Williams (-14 to 72), Sam Young (returns to 68), Andre Drummond (-12 to 57), Jonas Valanciunas (returns to 68), Andrea Bargnani (returns to 73)

The current round of voting in the competition to earn the cover of NCAA Football 14 has now stretched on for three weeks with one more still to go. Checking on the results shows that the four schools, and respective athletes representing them, that jumped out on top early have only solidified their position since. None of the players involved really have reach beyond their individual fan bases so the voting has become predictable. The top four will be moving on with the slates being wiped clean for the next round.

    In position to advance: Alabama/Eddie Lacy (107K), Michigan/Denard Robinson (93K), Texas A&M/Ryan Swope (82K), Oregon/Kenjon Barner (65K)

    On brink of elimination: Ohio State/John Simon (50K), Florida State/E.J. Manuel (41K), Georgia/Jarvis Jones (38K), Notre Dame/Tyler Eifert (34K)
