The first gameplay video for MLB 13: The Show has arrived and again it comes courtesy of CJohnson403 on Twitter. It features a NLDS game with the Braves at Nationals in Postseason mode. Though the footage is off-screen it is pretty good quality but keep in mind the audio enhancements, key to the Postseason mode, may be more difficult to discern. The special presentation though is on full display. Continue on for the video and leave any thoughts in the comments!  Read more

There will be no prerelease demos for MLB 2K13 and MLB 13: The Show. In the case of one, a lack of improvements and constrained development cycle would be to blame, while the other can rest on a stronger reputation negating the need in some eyes to release a demo.  Read more

  • NCAA Football 14 Cover Vote Finals

Over 10 weeks into the campaign to determine the cover athlete for NCAA Football 14 and it has now reached the finals. Michigan’s Denard Robinson goes head-to-head against Texans A&M’s Ryan Swope for the honor. Voting is open now on the official Facebook page and will run through Friday, March 8.

At or near the top through every round Alabama and representative Eddie Lacy got knocked off in surprising fashion by Swope in the semifinals. Ultimately the fatigue of having to vote several times over multiple months was going to cost some candidates and late in the process Lacy was the one who saw support dissipate. Robinson looks to be the heavy favorite to win now but the Texas A&M fan base has proven to be no pushover.

  • MLB 13: The Show Includes Braves “Screaming Indian” Batting Practice Hat

New Era recently revealed brand new hats for every team in MLB to be used during Spring Training and batting practices throughout the 2013 season. The styles feature secondary logos and/or different color schemes than the standard gameday caps.

When the designs were originally leaked by Uni Watch controversy arose due to the use of the “Screaming Indian” for the Atlanta Braves being deemed by some as offensive. When the reveal was officially made that hat was not to be found and instead was replaced by their script “A”. The Braves claimed that the “Screaming Indian” was only one of five proposed designs and had never gotten the go-ahead but, as Uni Watch points out, that clearly wasn’t the case.

MLB 13: The Show features all the batting practice hats and for the Braves it’s the “Screaming Indian” rather than the script “A”. SCEA is obligated to follow the MLB’s official style guide in which the scrapped version of the hat appears. So while no fault lies with them it will be embarrassing for the MLB to have that hat featured in the game when a concerted effort was made to distance themselves from it. Whether SCEA chooses to remove it through an update – if they are able to do so – will be something to monitor going forward.

The team rankings for MLB 13: The Show slipped out last week and now comes an opportunity to see the complete rosters for every team along with the overall rating of every player. Though 17 players rated 99 there is a somewhat substantial gap between those at the top and the other highly rated players. Only 5 are rated 98 and 2 rated 97.

Teams heavily stacked with 90+ rated players are the Cardinals (7), Phillies (7), Nationals (6), Angels (6), Reds (6), Giants (5), Yankees (5), and Blue Jays (5). The Indians are the only team that doesn’t have a single one. In total there are 99 players rated 90 or higher.

Thanks goes to CJohnson83 on Twitter for supplying all the images. Continue on for the breakdown of top rated players for every team and flip through the images for each team in the Facebook album or G+ album to check out the entirety of the rosters.  Read more
