In a post on the official forums for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 producer Sean Wilson has confirmed that the first significant patch for the game was set for submission to first party certification late this week. Generally once in the hands of Microsoft and Sony the process takes 10-14 days. It’s possible that it could be out next week but far more likely to be the week after.

The patch-in-process details were first posted two weeks ago but since then a few additions have made their way in. Continue on for the complete list as it stands now. Read more

EA Sports today announced that the first trailer and feature reveals for NHL 14 will be made on April 15. This comes as somewhat of a surprise as typically the company hasn’t started marketing the upcoming NHL releases until late May followed by more in June along with E3.

The news will come before even anything on Madden NFL 25 which releases weeks prior to NHL. There hasn’t even been a multi-month long cover vote for NHL to go through! The first screenshot will be out tomorrow in advance of the bigger push early next week.

  • Player Face Comparisons Between MLB 13: The Show and MLB 2K13 – The Results

With plenty of time having passed to vote on the player faces in the 2013 editions of the MLB games here are the results. Over 73K total votes were collected through the process and the results were definitive to say the least. While 2K Sports has at least put up a fight in the three years prior, coming out on top 30% of the time, this battle proved to be a far greater mismatch. MLB 13: The Show won 35 of the 40 over MLB 2K13.

Most of the pairings were routs with The Show taking 26 of them by 80%+ and 8 of them being at or above 95%. The tightest race was with 2K13 cover-man David Price who just barely edged out the win for the company he represents. Clayton Kershaw and Justin Verlander, who also have relationships with 2K, were among the few others who won for that side. The only semi-surprise comes with Buster Posey who was deemed better in 2K despite his ties to SCEA. Read more

  • Madden NFL 25 Cover Vote Reaches Bracket Finals as Only Four Players Remain

The cover campaign featuring both legends and current stars for Madden NFL 25 has reached the finals in the two brackets. The “Old School” and “New School” participants have been shaved down to two each with the eventual winners from each side facing off for the cover honors.

Barry Sanders goes up against Jerry Rice while Arian Foster will take on Adrian Peterson. Foster’s run is the only thing that could be considered a surprise especially having quit social media prior to the tournament. He has gone on to beat Julio Jones, Colin Kaepernick, and now Russell Wilson. There are currently one, two, three, and four seeds remaining. Peterson is likely to move on (he absolutely CRUSHED Robert Griffin III) with the Rice-Sanders pairing (both collected about equal percentage with comparable opponents) much more difficult to call.

Voting is completed through the ESPN SportsNation Page. The fifth round runs until April 17th when it will move forward to the overall finals.

To coincide with the Masters being played April 11-14 a live tournament has been set up in the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 Xbox 360 Country Club and started this morning. At times there has been one or two slots available in the club. If that is the case for those who didn’t join earlier the password is padre. At time of publish the club was full.

This is the first time the Masters has been used within the club and the increased difficulty of the course should prove interesting when it comes to the results. The tournament is the full four rounds and runs though Sunday providing the opportunity to complete them all either in binge-form or by doing one round a day (which is what I prefer). No prize is on the line given there isn’t a way to regulate golfers used and it’s more about just enjoying the experience along with others and seeing how everything shakes out. The final leaderboard though will get the spotlight with a post on Monday recapping the event.

Last week EA Sports offered the first look at NCAA Football 14 and provided some details on what to expect in the way of improvements and additions. The game will feature a refined “Infinity Engine” physics system. Enhanced player control in the way of cuts, acceleration bursts, and jukes. The introduction of Ultimate Team and Season modes. New “Coach Skills” in Dynasty and work done to the presentation (a big area of weakness in recent years) are also in the cards.

Coming off two straight years with NCAA being named as the most disappointing sports game by the community, was the news well received or did it not demonstrate enough to alter the negative perception that it’s struggling against? Vote in the poll below and leave your thoughts in the comments regarding the initial information on NCAA Football 14!

A huge benefit to being first party means getting propelled to the front of the line in the patch certification process and not having to pay a significant fee for more after completing the first two free ones. While SCEA hasn’t really taken advantage of the latter in recent years for The Show they have the former by getting the first extensive patches out within a matter of weeks. That happened again with MLB 13: The Show as a hefty update that came out in late March and now the company has followed it up with another. Read more
