The second in-season roster update for MLB 13: The Show arrived this morning. The usual Monday release was delayed due to PSN maintenance that extended through the entire day. Notable changes include the injuries to Jered Weaver and Zack Greinke. The latest edition of the highly-regarded team management sim Out of the Park Baseball released wide today for the PC and Mac after going out to those who pre-ordered on Friday.
Out of the Park Baseball 2014 goes for $40 and features updated rosters, a new player origin and development engine, a re-coded scouting system, improved AI, and new real-time simulation features. OOTP ’14 can be purchased through the game’s official website and the mobile version is also out for iOS (check out the review posted last week).
If you missed it Brad Cook from OOTP was on the most recent Press Row Hangout show to discuss the game. I’ve been playing it for a while now and though certainly intimidating at first due to the breadth of screens, options, and actions to decipher it has been thoroughly satisfying and enjoyable. Look for some overall impressions to be posted in the near future.
Notice today was sent out that the claims period for the class action settlement in regards to the pricing of football products has now been extended to May 15. The original cut-off was March 5 but is now being pushed out due to a lower than anticipated number of claims having been made. Those who have already filed do not need to do anything new because of this. The difference will be a much higher dollar amount in return than was previously documented. Read more

After profiling The Show Live in MLB 13: The Show following opening day it was clear that later attention would have to be paid to the new mode in order to ascertain whether the features would be fully delivered. Rosters were somewhat of a mess – with random free agents filling the spots of those who were not in the rosters yet – and the enhanced commentary had nothing yet to go on. Two weeks now into the season the mode can be better evaluated. Read more
The regular season has been winding down and so has been the work put towards the roster updates for NBA 2K13. The latest released today is limited to injury adjustments. Only one update since mid-March (released on April 3)Â has affected any player ratings.
Among the players taking a hit due to injuries suffered recently are Bradley Beal, Danilo Gallinari, Enes Kanter, and Kenyon Martin. Returning from injured status are Metta World Peace, Kevin Garnett, and Dion Waiters. Dwyane Wade and Anthony Davis have remained active.
The latest edition of the Press Row Hangout features myself, Richard Grisham from GamesRadar, and Owen Good from Kotaku. Joining us is Brad Cook from Out of the Park Baseball 14 to discuss the game which releases today for those who pre-ordered and goes wide Monday. Other topics include our progress in Tiger Woods 14, the Madden NFL 25 cover vote, the possibility of another NBA game from EA Sports, and answering viewer questions related to college basketball gaming and the player likeness lawsuit. As always leave any feedback on the show or suggestions for future discussions in the comments!
