A minor new roster update for NBA 2K13 arrived today affecting some of the playoff teams. While injuries to Steve Blake, Steve Nash, and Jodie Meeks were not reflected David Lee (-5 to 79) has taken on his season-ender. Following up on the trailer released last night EA Sports has posted two blogs detailing the improvements to the running game and the influence that comes with the advancing physics for Madden NFL 25. “Run Free” is getting pushed hard as something buzz-worthy by the company but widespread response to the trailer and first info has been anything but kind. Check out the first blog on running here and the other on the physics and defense here.

Run Free includes a “precision modifier” utilizing the LT/L2 button which allows for 30 new moves to be at the disposal of the ball carrier. Run blocking is said to be improved (will have to see it to believe it) to go along with the enhanced player control. Combos are now possible utilizing the arsenal of moves. EA says you can now “string together devastating combos” which might be the most disconcerting thing I’ve ever read from a release of theirs. (Update) This actual quote from the company in an interview with ESPN is even worse: “We’ve also added in combo moves with the right analog stick, almost like you’re playing ‘Street Fighter’.”

The Infinity Engine physics system of course gets significant refinement for its second year. Defense also gets a mention with new pursuit angles, quicker recovery, “heat-seeker tackling”, and more accurate dive tackles.

The first trailer for Madden NFL 25 has arrived and the focus is on the run game matching the initial reveal for NCAA Football 14 three weeks ago. Both games feature a refined “Infinity Engine” physics system paired with an enhanced running game that offers greater control over realistic cuts, jukes, hurdles, stumbles, and acceleration bursts.

Know that there is not much of substance here in this trailer – rather it’s a compilation of highlights that will make Packers fans wonder what they’ve done to wrong the person who put it together. Continue on to check it out and leave any thoughts in the comments!  Read more

The cover campaign for Madden NFL 25 which began back on March 11 with 64 participants – some current stars and others legends from the past – has finally produced a winner. 40 million votes were cast throughout the process and with 58% of the returns Barry Sanders prevailed over Adrian Peterson in the finals for the honor of being featured on the cover.

Check out the official cover art here. This makes it two consecutive years with Barry Sanders featured on an EA Sports cover after winning a competition to share the space on NCAA Football 13 with Robert Griffin III. Sanders has also now appeared as a playable character in both NCAA and Madden and it’s safe to assume that he will be back again as someone to choose for the “Player” path within Connected Franchise mode.

That will likely not be the case with Microsoft’s upcoming reveal event – whether rumored exclusivity of some sort is involved or not.  Read more

Two weeks ago the first pre-order bonus was spotted for Madden NFL 25. At the time it made sense to assume it related just to Ultimate Team, with the possibility it could also impact Connected Careers (now known as Connected Franchise). It appears as though the bonuses from various retailers will apply to both modes now that Gamestop has released info on theirs.

While Walmart will feature the Raiders, Gamestop exclusively holds the 49ers. Included with the San Francisco pack is former owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr. along with former coach Bill Walsh and former star Joe Montana. As the graphic notes DeBartolo Jr. is only available within Connected Franchise suggesting some form of an ownership role is being introduced as a way to play through a career in addition to the standard coach and player paths.
