The app that aims to provide gamers an opportunity to take on professional athletes has just launched for iOS devices. OverDog, which is co-founded by former Bears linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer and carries an advisory board that includes Raiders punter Chris Kluwe and Rays pitcher David Price, is operating now in “soft launch” and for the time being is completely free. Though the earlier Kickstarter campaign failed to meet its goal the service was never contingent on that funding beyond the extras it would have provided for.
Only 1000 spots are open during this period meaning those who sign-up will have a fairly strong chance of nabbing a challenge from an athlete. Matt Forte and David Price are among those who have already issued challenges since the app went live. An Android app is expected later this summer. Check out the OverDog website for more and grab the app from iTunes.

Over the course of the week EA Sports unveiled and then expanded on the improvements and additions for Dynasty mode in NCAA Football 14. Those include the streamlined recruiting process with other enhancements, introduction of Coach Skills, exporting of draft classes to Madden NFL 25, and some minor enhancements to presentation.
Response to the news appeared mixed initially regarding the recruiting with many heralding the more simplified method yet others disappointed the level of control in pursuing recruits they once had is being stripped away. Coach Skills on the other hand received a more solidly positive response with the feature bringing in another element of strategy and personalization to handling a program. Leave any thoughts on NCAA Football 14’s Dynasty mode in the comments and cast your vote in the poll below!
Yesterday EA Sports fleshed out the “Coach Skills” aspect of Dynasty mode in NCAA Football 14 and today they’ve posted a blog going further into the streamlined recruiting process. The “Power Recruiting” does away with the phone call aspect and instead shifts to a more simple point distribution system.
Weekly feedback will help paint a picture of gains and losses, “Top Interests” will provide programs strong in those areas advantages with prospects who fit well, “Deal Breakers” will become a factor potentially even preventing pursuits completely, and the campus visits have been tweaked to be more realistic and relevant.
The latest edition of the Press Row Hangout was recorded last night and features myself, Rich Grisham from GamesRadar, and Owen Good from Kotaku. Topics range from where things stand now one week after the Xbox One reveal, reaction to the Dynasty news for NCAA Football 14, Keith the “famous” contributor to the comments section and a subject he raised recently, E3 predictions with the event less than two weeks away, and more!
Also presented now is the show that was recorded last week only hours after the Xbox One reveal with thoughts on the console, Microsoft’s potential practices in handling used games and requiring an online connection, and the Ignite Engine that was announced by EA Sports. The Hangout had a technical issue after completion that resulted in failed processing and was lost to Youtube purgatory only to be resurrected by Google last night. All discussed in the show remains relevant just one week later.
As always leave any thoughts or suggestions for future Hangouts in the comments! One final pre-E3 Press Row Podcast will hit next week and then plenty of additional coverage to look forward come the week of June 10th.
EA Sports has followed up on the announcement of Coach Skills for Dynasty mode in NCAA Football 14 with details on all the different paths that can be taken and the individual skills to be earned. Head coaches have two different skill trees (Game Management and Recruiting) while coordinators just affect the output on the field. Each skill can be upgraded to “Level 3” but EA is only mapping out what the first level provides prior to release. Read more
