Though NBA Live 14 first was unveiled back at E3 only a dribbling exhibition with Kyrie Irving was from the actual game while the trailer was pre-rendered. Concern over the future of the college football series from EA Sports has not only stemmed from the likeness lawsuit or recent loss of NCAA licensing but also sales that have for the most part stagnated over the course of the generation rather than show growth as the install bases expanded. Then NCAA Football 13 opened down about 12% compared to NCAA 12. In this week’s call with investors COO Peter Moore was asked about how well NCAA Football 14 has been doing since its release earlier this month. Read more
With just three to four months to go until the next generation of consoles arrive, and over a month since Microsoft’s reversal on restrictive DRM, it’s a good time to again gauge consumer perception towards the PlayStation 4 (which has guaranteed launch day bundles available again on Amazon) and Xbox One and reassess potential purchase plans with the sports gaming community largely in mind.
Advantage wise the PS4 is slightly more powerful, includes a headset, has a longer DVR gameplay recording time frame (15 minutes vs 5 minutes), likely will have the only MLB game, and is $100 cheaper. The Xbox One packs in Kinect, offers instant switching to TV, will get some exclusive content for EA Sports games, and has a yet-to-be-detailed NFL partnership. Console exclusive titles will factor into consideration also but as far as sports games go all except for MLB: The Show will be available on both. EA recently announced Ultimate Team content will transfer from current to next gen for Madden NFL 25 and FIFA 14 but that will only apply to those going from 360 to One and PS3 to PS4.
Which console are you leaning towards buying this holiday season? Are you going for both at launch or waiting until later to get one? Vote in the poll and leave your thoughts in the comments!
Microsoft had serious issues on the Xbox 360 yesterday that caused everything on the system to run extremely slow and even locked out some users from logging in. Though things were finally back to normal in the evening those who downloaded the free uniform pack for NCAA Football 14Â earlier in the day could still be stuck with that problem. EA Sports has posted a solution for anyone still experiencing slow loading times or server disconnections.
Please go to Xbox Home Screen -> System Settings -> Storage -> Storage Device -> Games and Apps -> NCAA 14 -> Select Uniform Pack DLC and delete.
Re-download and install the DLC by launching NCAA 14, Go to Team Management, Select the Uniform Store and download NCAA 14 Uniform Pack DLC.
EA Sports yesterday revealed that FIFA 13 made over $70 million in digital revenue the previous quarter, having been generated primarily from the popular Ultimate Team mode, bringing the total for the game to more than $275 million. That is over 90% higher than the digital revenue from an already record-breaking FIFA 12. By the time the final quarter comes to a close and the new release arrives FIFA 13 will have made well over $300 million in digital revenue.
New Ultimate Team features for FIFA 14 announced earlier this week include a deeper chemistry system, single online matches, and expanded Online Seasons mode. A new trailer has arrived discussing the features that will impact the mode this year which will be the same on both current and next-gen. Read more
