The demo for NHL 14 has arrived on the Xbox 360 (can be queued up for download here) and will make it to the PS3 when the store updates this afternoon.
Featured in the demo are three modes to play. A standard game with a Stanley Cup rematch limited to the third period, NHL 94 mode with the same two teams, and Hockey Ultimate Team.
A bonus HUT pack will be provided in the retail version for those who complete a game and win the HUT tournament against the four teams (Halifax Mooseheads, Grand Rapids Griffins, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks) included within the demo.
Since its release almost two months ago now Your Turn Football has been exceedingly well received. Check out my initial impressions if you missed them. It has become the only game I play on my phone (have 28 active games at the moment to attend to). It’s highly recommended and arguably the best sports mobile game since New Star Soccer.
With that in mind I turned to Pick6 Studios developer Michael Saperstein for insight on various areas of the game that users may have questions about and tips on how to improve performance on the field and best put a team together. In this piece you’ll find out more on the general construction of the game and how to utilize the various strategies. Later in the week another article will go into how the player ratings work and more on the team “upgrades” that affect defense, special teams, and play calling. Read more
Earlier this month Gamestop announced a program which will give consumers who buy Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, Battlefield 4, Assassin’s Creed IV, and Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Xbox 360 the opportunity to trade those games in for $50 in credit to put towards the same game on the Xbox One once released. Now Amazon is offering essentially the same deal but for a total of eight games.
Trade in the current-gen copy by December 31 and receive a $50 promo credit with Amazon to put towards the Xbox One game. Check out full details on the program here.
Gamestop’s offer does not feature NBA 2K14 but Amazon’s does. It also includes Watch Dogs and Need for Speed Rivals.
For two years fans of Crew mode have hounded 2K Sports with their desire for it to return. The company announced it was coming back last week but why hasn’t that calmed the waters and brought that vocal group back on board?
Those fans will tell you it’s not actually Crew mode. Read more

With sufficient time to evaluate the Madden NFL 25 demo since releasing last Tuesday here again is a chance to get a feel for reaction towards the game and whether the opportunity to play it has influenced any purchase decisions. Recently NCAA Football 14 got some really positive momentum following its demo and it’ll be interesting to see how things compare with Madden.
Hampered by a single camera angle that can’t be changed in the demo (four others are available in the full game) ample opportunity is present to judge the gameplay thanks to the full four quarters at five minutes a piece and the ability to adjust sliders. The Skills Trainer also provides a chance to get a feel for how new mechanics and particular play types work.
