Last week brought the first look at the current-gen version of NBA 2K14 from Gamescom and now additional recorded footage has come out of yesterday’s Gamestop Expo. Rather than the Euroleague which was being featured overseas the build captured from here is an NBA Finals rematch of the Spurs vs Heat. The extended off-screen footage of course is not of ideal quality but again provides an opportunity to gauge how the action flows, the presentation elements, and how the various gameplay improvements being touted all mesh together. Read more
Though not widespread there are a number of consumers experiencing freezing issues in Madden NFL 25. A thread with well over 200 replies on the official EA forum documents the problems and potential temporary solutions.
What seems to be working for those unable to even reach the main menu involves avoiding the connection made to the EA servers on initial boot-up. When loading the game there will be a point where the notification appears that connection is being made to the servers. Hit B or circle to cancel that. Once in the menus connection to the servers can be achieved manually or by simply loading up an Online Franchise, Ultimate Team, or online game.
In other cases some have found deleting the demo off their hard drive, clearing system cache, deleting the game data utility files, and even deleting the release day patch and going without it (which would mean not being able to play online) have allowed them to reach areas they were previously unable to.
Regardless there doesn’t seem to be a solution that addresses the freezing in all the different areas of the game where users are finding trouble. EA Sports has not responded when contacted for comment on the matter. A patch to fix whatever is causing the problems could be weeks away. Hopefully for those hitting a wall with their game one of the workarounds will help until a permanent fix arrives.
In a surprise move yesterday Amazon added a $10 promo credit to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 copies of Madden NFL 25 (excluding the Anniversary Edition) for both ongoing sales and consumers who pre-ordered. Elsewhere NewEgg via Ebay had copies going for $45 but their supply was run through fairly quickly. Costco meanwhile is selling the game for $55. As was the case with NCAA Football 14 it’s likely some retailers will drop the price temporarily on Madden even lower within the next week or two.
The Amazon deal though is especially enticing to 360 owners who plan on buying an Xbox One. With Amazon’s trade-in offer, in which they’ll provide $50 credit to put towards the same game on the Xbox One, it essentially makes the 2 1/2 month rental of the current-gen version free when factoring in the bonus $10 promo.
2K Sports today released the first trailer for the current-gen version of NBA 2K14. The trailer makes no mention new features or improvements – it’s the standard flashy highlight reel – but does provide the chance to see some players for the first time with their new teams. Read more
