Association and MyCareer weren’t even touched upon in that features list which concentrated more on the changes to gameplay instead. Two recent previous however supply the first info on the two popular modes. Read more

EA Sports yesterday released the second roster update for Madden NFL 25. This one is largely shaped by the rosters being trimmed down to final 53s in preparation for week one of the NFL season but also includes some ratings adjustments. Depth chart shuffling and players being dropped or added since the cut-downs last Saturday make up the majority of the changes.
Unlike previous years new roster updates are not being prompted for download during initial boot up to the main menu. Instead they have to be manually grabbed by going to Customize – Manage Rosters – Update Rosters or when starting up an online game. This roster or any other can be imported for use when starting a new Connected Franchise.
While there are some errors (unfortunately EA has yet to release the full list of changes) and a few players low on the depth charts omitted keep in mind the extraordinary number of transactions that had to be accounted for and the effort to not only handle them and things like changes to jersey numbers but the necessity of coming in under deadline to meet consumer expectations of being out by the weekend. Look for next week’s roster update to clean up the discrepancies and further alter ratings following performances from week one.
While EA Sports expected sales of Madden NFL 25 to fall short of those for Madden NFL 13 they did not anticipate the dramatic 37% drop that it turned out to be. Madden NFL 25 sold just over 1 million copies its first week on the market. That is down from 1.6 million that were moved for Madden NFL 13 in the same period and 1.9 million back with Madden NFL 10. Read more
Subscribers to the EA Sports Season Ticket program can now access the early release digital download of NHL 14 on both the Xbox 360 and PS3.
The digital copy of NHL 14 will expire early Tuesday (6am ET) after which a retail or digital copy will have to be purchased to continue playing. All game saves and achievements will transfer over.
The Season Ticket costs $25 and runs for a period of one year – providing over three days of early access and a 20% discount on any DLC purchased for NCAA Football, Madden NFL, NHL, and FIFA. No plans have been announced regarding a Season Ticket program for the Xbox One and PS4 but EA has now stated that subscriptions purchased for the 360/PS3 will not carry over whether Season Ticket continues there or not.
There is also a Hockey Ultimate Team bonus provided for Season Ticket subscribers. 24 Premium Gold Packs will be distributed over 24 weeks (which is claimed to be over $30 in value). Ultimate Team however is not accessible during the Season Ticket period.
Madden NFL 25 released without any truly defined expectations. With an anniversary year being heavily promoted it stood to reason that EA Sports would pour resources into the game – releasing at the tail end of the current generation where it peaked in the last – and realize the benefits of having rebuilt eight years ago and overcoming some of those struggles as of late.
At the same time launching on the Xbox One and PS4 in November the next-gen version of the game was sure to siphon off some of the resources that otherwise would have been invested in current-gen as the company attempts to avoid those missteps and launch in strong fashion.
Continue on for a look at the areas where Madden NFL 25 excelled and where it fell short in this ‘Hits and Misses’ review. Read more
