The roster update for Madden NFL 25 following week two of the season is available to download now on both the Xbox 360 and PS3. In order to get it from the main menu go to Customize – Manage Rosters – Update Rosters or start an online game. The changes were locked Wednesday morning so the trade of Trent Richardson to the Colts and signing of Willis McGahee by the Browns that followed will have to wait until next week.

Notable movement in this update includes Eddie Royal shooting up 5 points to 79, Ndamukong Suh gaining 2 to 95, Richard Sherman collecting 1 to hit 97, DeSean Jackson with 2 to 88, Dontari Poe up 2 to 81, D.J. Fluker up 2 to 79, Brent Grimes moving up 1 to 90, Cameron Jordan geting 3 to 87, and Robert Quinn rising again this time by 3 to 83.

Despite only two QBs playing worse this year based on ESPN’s Total QBR Robert Griffin III somehow actually goes up to 89. Oneil Cousins (69) and David Wilson (75) fall for the second straight week, Eli Manning drops 1 to 90, and Mark Ingram goes down 2 to 77.

NFL Runner: Football Dash released today for both iOS (download from iTunes) and Android (download from Google Play) devices.

Similar to games like Temple Run or Subway Surfers the challenge is to run for as long as possible. NFL Runner is free to play and supported by microtransactions. Players swype the screen left and right to move laterally, up to jump, and down to slide in an effort to collect coins and power-ups and avoid obstacles that would bring the run to an end.

EA Sports currently has the NFL exclusive for consoles but that deal has never extended to mobile. Several games carry the NFL branding but no contract with the Player’s Association. That is the case with NFL Runner which has no real players but the ability to choose from NFL teams for the character to represent. The actual team uniform however is only available as in-game purchase of $3. Power-ups, upgrades, coins, and stars can also be purchased.

EA Sports today released the first trailer for NBA Live 14 featuring actual footage from the game. At E3 the company showed off next-gen trailers for Madden NFL 25 and FIFA 14 but unlike those the Live trailer was entirely pre-rendered.

NBA Live 14 will release on November 19 landing three days in advance of the Xbox One but four days late for the PS4. Known features thus far include the Ignite Engine, BounceTek dribbling system, signature dribble moves for 50+ players, “Rising Star” career mode, roster updates within an hour after every game ends, and the inclusion of legends.  Read more

Executive vice president of EA Sports Andrew Wilson has been elevated to CEO of Electronic Arts. Former chairman and CEO Larry Probst had been holding the position on an interim basis since John Riccitiello resigned in March.

Wilson outlined three areas he will be focusing on:

    1. Continued transformation for our digital future;
    2. Delivering amazing games and services across platforms; and
    3. Instilling a culture of execution that will drive profitable growth.

Promoting from within rather than bringing in someone from the outside suggests that the company will continue on its current path. The focus shifting to next-gen, free-to-play mobile, and digital (Wilson was also the head of Origin). The stability should prove especially valuable in the months ahead in dealing with the console generation transition.

  • Third Set of Uniform Additions Release for NCAA Football 14

EA Sports today released the third uniform pack for NCAA Football 14. As with the last pack this one costs $1. It features new helmets for North Carolina, Cincinnati, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. New gloves are also included for Cincinnati, Louisville, Florida State, and NC State. They can be purchased by going to Team Management and then the Uniform Store.

The encouraging thing about today’s content pack is that it comes just a week after the second. Consistent releases throughout the season catching up with the latest uniform changes would be great. Unfortunately there are still a ton of missing jerseys and helmets out there and these first two charged-for packs have barely scratched the surface in a way that would seem intended to draw out the process.

  • Madden NFL 25 Week Two Upcoming Roster Update Discussion

With two weeks of the NFL season now in the books it should be time to start examining players with high ratings that are underperforming. It’s often easy to raise players after big performances but typically they don’t drop at the same rate when struggling. Over the course of the season that really adds up. Among the names that should be looked at now to take a hit include Robert Griffin III, Eli Manning, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Ray Rice.

Injuries will send to the IR (or at least result in extended periods of missed action for) Dan Connor, Vick Ballard, Charles Godfrey, Kroy Biermann, Ian Williams, Malcom Floyd, and Ryan Clady. Strong week two’s will likely result in a bump to the ratings of Dontari Poe, Eddie Royal, DeSean Jackson, Marshawn Lynch, James Starks, Steve Johnson, Martellus Bennett, Julio Jones, Philip Rivers, the entire Seahawks defense, and the Packers receiving corps (Redskins defense should see lots of damage in the next update).

As always leave your thoughts in the comments as to who should benefit or get downgraded with the upcoming Madden NFL 25 roster update in the comments!

  • NBA Live 14 Gets Release Date; Will Miss PS4 Launch By Four Days
    by

    nbalive14damelillardsm

EA Sports today announced that NBA Live 14 will release for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on November 19. That means it will be out in advance of the One but four days late for the PS4.

Missing the PS4 launch by four days is actually a bigger deal than it might seem on the surface. With NBA 2K14 out there on day one, EA will unquestionably miss out on some potential sales from those looking to grab games along with the console. There no longer will be the decision to be made between the two basketball games which will be present for Xbox One buyers.

While the partnership between Microsoft and EA affects some exclusive content (like the legends in FIFA’s Ultimate Team) it did not alter the release schedule for Madden and FIFA. Those two titles release on November 12 for PS4.

It’s to EA’s benefit to push consumer dollars next-gen so heavy promotion of the game in these two weeks leading up to the current-gen release of NBA 2K14 should be expected. A trailer is said to be coming later this week.
