The roster update following week four of the season is expected out by Friday afternoon on both the Xbox 360 and PS3. The trades of Eugene Monroe to the Ravens and Levi Brown to the Steelers are included. The Buccaneers releasing Josh Freeman today obviously came too late to make it in for this update.

Some of the names of those moving up in ratings this week include Geno Atkins (+1 to 97), Ndamukong Suh (+1 to 97), Tony Gonzalez (+1 to 95), Dez Bryant (+1 to 94), Joe Haden (+1 to 93), Julius Peppers (+1 to 92), Brian Cushing (+1 to 92), Brian Orakpo (+1 to 91), Aqib Talib (+3 to 90), Antonio Gates (+2 to 90), Eric Berry (+2 to 91), Patrick Peterson (+1 to 90), Andrew Luck (+1 to 90), Sean Lee (+1 to 90), Philip Rivers (+2 to 88), Jordan Cameron (+3 to 87), Reggie Bush (+2 to 87), Cliff Avril (+2 to 86), Alterraun Verner (+2 to 86), Sean McGrath (+5 to 73), and Will Blackmon (+6 to 71).

On the way down are Julio Jones (-1 to 92), Roddy White (-1 to 90), Doug Martin (-1 to 89), Maurice Jones-Drew (-1 to 88), Eli Manning (-1 to 87), Matt Schaub (-1 to 87), Mike Wallace (-1 to 86), Tyson Clabo (-2 to 86), Andy Dalton (-1 to 83), and Matt Flynn (-2 to 73).

  • Your Thoughts on NBA 2K14

NBA 2K14 released this week to reduced fanfare due in part to the next-gen version – which 2K Sports decided to begin promoting the day prior the 360/PS3 version reaching stores – which is just around the corner and a lack of new features to inspire excitement in the product. Review scores are down with the Metacritic currently five points lower than 2K13. Despite that the changes made to gameplay have been largely recognized as valuable and that may be enough for some coming off such a strong offering last year.

Here is a chance to voice your thoughts on current-gen NBA 2K14. Look for a full Hits and Misses review next week. Leave your impressions and any observations from playing the game in the comments and vote in the poll below!

In what will likely extend to all retailers Amazon is the first to post a pre-order bonus for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 edition of Madden NFL 25. To no surprise it relates to Ultimate Team mode which has been leaned on for the bonuses in all of EA Sports’ recent slate of games in order to further push the revenue generating mode. Seven Ultimate Team Pro Packs will be included. Madden 25 releases on November 12 for PS4 and November 19 for Xbox One.

Fans of the mode have had ample opportunity to stack their teams through bonuses that came with pre-orders and the Season Ticket subscription. A one-time transfer of Ultimate Team content from the 360 to Xbox One and PS3 to PS4 will allow the consumers who are able to take advantage of that to continue without restarting.

In addition to the console versions released today NBA 2K14 has also arrived for iOS devices (download from iTunes here) for $8. That is the same price NBA 2K13 released at on mobile to generally poor reviews while other companies have instead been trending towards the free-to-play model. It is not yet out for Android but expected sometime this month.

Unfortunately 2K Sports did not provide any details on app features so at this point users would be buying blind. NBA 2K13 featured the NBA’s Greatest mode and presumably like the console editions that will be gone in favor of a Path to Greatness mode centered on LeBron James.

2K Sports today released a new teaser trailer for the next-gen version of NBA 2K14. Like the trailer that debuted at E3 it doesn’t offer any insight into what to expect from the game but does include very brief replay footage from actual gameplay.

The timing for the trailer release is somewhat odd coming just a day before the release of current-gen but will accomplish a goal of stealing the Xbox One/PS4 conversation away from competitor NBA Live 14 which inexplicably let its prime opportunity window pass. Continue on to check out the trailer and leave any thoughts in the comments!  Read more
