SCEA has begun to tease an announcement pertaining to MLB 14: The Show that will be made on Monday, November 4. There are two strong possibilities for what will come on that date. One or both seem likely to happen.

Typically the first news related to the upcoming release of The Show has to do with the cover. That news tends to come anywhere from early November to mid-December and sometimes has coincided with an awards announcement. Last year the cover being determined through fan voting was announced in late November. This time the date coincides with the Player’s Choice Awards which will be broadcast on the MLB Network. The news could be made during the broadcast.

This year though is unique as the release of the PlayStation 4 happens on November 15. SCEA could look to capitalize on the excitement of the upcoming console by officially announcing the PS4 version. That would not only offer a jump start for promotion of the game at a point of heightened consumer awareness but also benefit Sony who can tout the highly respected series while the Xbox One looks likely to go without baseball next year. A teaser trailer or screenshot could even accompany the announcement though would not be a given.

  • NBA 2K14 Opening Night Roster Update

    nba2k141029b

The roster update to coincide with the tip-off of the season has arrived for NBA 2K14. Its purpose is primarily to designate players as injured – with significant names like Kobe Bryant, Russell Westbrook, Rajon Rondo, J.R. Smith, and Brandon Jennings out.

Rating Up: Darren Collison (+1 to 80), Alex Len (+5 to 62), Paul George (+1 to 89), Klay Thompson (+2 to 75)
Rating Down: Tony Wroten (-5 to 63), Antawn Jamison (-1 to 75), Quincy Pondexter (-1 to 66)

“The Real 2K Insider” goes over in greater detail all changes present in this update noting that 25 players are completely missing, 13 players are on the wrong team, and 10 lineups are incorrect. Last year roster updates represented a huge area of weakness for the series and the Dynamic Rosters are supposed to correct that end of things. Maybe more consistent updates will take place during the season but it probably won’t account for missing players and movement.

Yesterday EA Sports announced the parting of ways with Tiger Woods that will leave its golf franchise without his presence in the name, on the cover, and in marketing campaigns. That move being made had been anticipated in some capacity to happen sooner rather than later and if anything he stayed on far longer than many would have predicted given the circumstances faced over the years in his personal and professional life.

In what comes as more surprising news Tiger Woods won’t appear in the next game in any capacity. That potentially has far more impact on consumer purchase decisions.  Read more

Eight weeks of the NFL season are now in the books and the potential playoff picture in both the AFC and NFC are starting to take shape. Significant injuries from this week’s game will end the seasons of Sebastian Vollmer, Brandon Gibson, Travis Benjamin, Mike Williams, and Ryan Broyles while Michael Vick and Ray Maualuga will be out for stretches of time.

Some of the players expected to rise in the upcoming Madden NFL 25 roster update include Andy Dalton, Cam Newton, Calvin Johnson (if he can go up any further in some individual categories – he’s already 99 overall), Marvin Jones, Terrence Williams, Andre Ellington, Zac Stacy, Robert Quinn, and Calais Campbell. Among those likely to drop are Robert Griffin III, Geno Smith, Davone Bess, Steven Jackson, David Diehl, Chandler Jones, and Dee Milliner.

As always leave your thoughts in the comments on who should receive boosts or take a fall in the next roster update for Madden NFL 25!

EA Sports today announced that their relationship with Tiger Woods is coming to an end. The next golf game from the company, scheduled for 2015 on the Xbox One and PS4, will not carry his name or have him involved in the marketing of the product.

Accompanying that big news is the first next-gen screenshot from what may simply be called EA Sports PGA Tour 16. Check it out in full resolution here. No further details on the game or move away from Woods has been provided.

Earlier this year EA decided to take a year off from the series in an attempt to debut in a strong fashion on next-gen. Ever since the scandal with Woods broke late 2009 signs of a move apart for both parties have been numerous and it’s somewhat surprising it took this long. Sales were dramatically impacted and his slipping significance in the golf world became a factor.
