The third post-release patch for NBA 2K14 went live today on the Xbox One and is expected soon for the PlayStation 4. The update is intended to address the crashing many have experienced when attempting to play MyCareer and MyGM along with the MyGM problems introduced in the last patch that included being unable to adjust contract offers and getting stuck in the Playoffs without being able to advance.

Other previously reported issues that have been targeted include not being able to play against friends, not being able to play Team-Up mode, and The Park which has been struck by frequent lengthy server outages. The modes should not need to be restarted for fixes to take effect.

Both earlier patches intended to improve troubles with crashing and saves but were unsuccessful and even made things worse in areas. Hopefully this update will instead eliminate the majority of the frustration consumers have been experiencing with the game. For those with the Xbox One version of 2K14 feel free to leave your post-patch observations in the comments and continue on for the full list of areas that will now hopefully be fixed and improved upon.  Read more

With just under six weeks until the usual launch date for sim licensed baseball games, the first Tuesday in March based on the terms of the MLB contract, the lull in marketing and any information relating to MLB 14: The Show has become notable. It’s been discussed briefly on the Press Row Podcast along with Kotaku and Operation Sports writing about the topic.

Typically in the past features and other details have started flowing in early-mid January. On some occasions gameplay videos have even been available by this time while the series has often been on put on display at CES which is held early in the month (however it was absent this year). Never has there been uncertainty about a release date. There are two huge new variables that could be altering the marketing strategy however. The lack of established competition and the first release on the PS4.  Read more

While there will be no usual golf game from EA Sports this year – as they transition away from Tiger Woods and attempt to launch in strong fashion on the new systems in 2015 – the new generation won’t be going without golf after all.

HB Studios, who has partnered with Electronic Arts in the past, most recently developed Rugby World Cup 2011 and the infamous NBA Baller Beats. They have also contributed to games like Madden and FIFA on the Wii and other EA Sports tiles that made their way onto secondary platforms including PS2, PC, and PSP.

Their latest effort is The Golf Club which will release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this spring. Being described as a simulation the game will include a course creator with final designs able to be shared and used in online matches. Tournaments and Tours can be customized and shared as well. Also touted is practically zero load time between holes, challenges vs friends, and social media integration. Check out screenshots in the FB album and continue on for some early videos highlighting gameplay and the Course Creator. Read more

The biggest story in gaming right now is the controversy surrounding Microsoft targeting Youtube personalities to promote the Xbox One. What has really blown things up is the manner in which they have done so that violates FTC regulations by requiring any participating individuals to hide that they are being compensated for their opinion or endorsement. Now Electronic Arts has also made its way into the conversation with evidence they offered similar promotions where they would pay bonuses to those promoting their products.  Read more
