In a special Press Row Hangout the panel discusses the news that came out of the E3 press conferences on Monday. Segments focus on the presentations and any information that followed for Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, and PGA Tour. Also touched on are NBA Live 15 and NBA 2K15 skipping the event, some of the racing games on display, and general reaction to the entire slate of games shown at the four press conferences. This nearly two hour hangout will also be made available as a podcast later this week.
Along with the release of the first gameplay trailer yesterdayĀ EA Sports has detailed a number of features for FIFA 15. The focus here is on gameplay and presentation rather than anything new to do with modes which should come later this summer.Ā Read more
As expected Madden NFL 15 got a segment during the EA press conference to tout some of its new features. The gameplay shown highlights the perspective in Player Lock on defense, new pass rush abilities, aĀ tackle “cone”, enhanced player emotion, and new presentation cameras. The front end of the presentation wasn’t captured in time but this includes the meat of it and will be replaced by the complete one when available.
At the E3 press conference for Electronic Arts today the company unveiled EA Sports PGA Tour which will be out next March. The series has dropped Tiger Woods – not just from the cover but from the game altogether. The first look at it coming back from a year off includes mentions of no load times between holes, detailed courses, and fantasy environments.
EA used the opportunity to promote EA Sports UFC during their press conference today and to no surprise leveraged the inclusion of Bruce Lee to attempt and reach the non-hardcore MMA crowd. He is available as a pre-order bonus through all retailers and digital and otherwise could be unlocked by completing Career mode. The gameplay demo featured Lee against B.J. Penn.
EA Sports has released the first look at FIFA 15 with a gameplay trailer featuring footage from the Xbox One and PS4 version that coincides with the start of their E3 press conference. Promotion of the game kicks off today even as the company continues to push 2014 FIFA World Cup and the Ultimate Team World Cup addition to FIFA 14.
EA Sports has released a new trailer for NHL 15 which for the first time features gameplay footage from the Xbox One and PS4 version of the game.Ā That the company put out the trailer prior to their press conference later today may mean NHL 15 will have little to no presence at the presentation…or they may just be getting a head start on things to come. Announced features so far include NBC broadcast presentation, new commentary team, and improved physics.
The poor visuals particularly for a title that was built for the next-gen consoles, with players that often looked nothing like themselves, were a barrier of entry for many when it came to NBA Live 14. It was tough enough to justify buying Live over 2K14 considering everything else but when the graphics couldn’t even compare that made the decision that much easier for consumers.
Rather than talk about NBA Live 15 at E3 today – no matter what claims were made they would haveĀ been dismissed due to lack of credibility and some previous showings at the event have been nothing short of disastrous – EA Sports decided to show off the results of the player face scanning they’ve been doing. The first screenshot includes the faces of six players (Paul George, Tony Parker, Rajon Rondo, James Harden, Blake Griffin, and Stephen Curry). Check out the image in larger form hereĀ and someĀ comparison shots of Live 14 vs Live 15 here.
Vast improvement is evident over last year’s game. That doesn’t mean a whole lot at this point but should Live 15 look like it belongs on the Xbox One and PS4, that’s a necessary first step in becoming a legitimate product.
