The next roster update will for Madden NFL 15 will carry with it even greater significance than just being the first in-season update of the season. Baltimore Ravens’ running back Ray Rice, who was released and subsequently suspended indefinitely yesterday, is likely to receive the Aaron Hernandez treatment. Look for him to be removed from the game completely and not just in the latest roster but from Ultimate Team as well.
Week one of the NFL season had a couple upsets and some great comeback attempts that were achieved or came up short. For the first time in the Tom Brady era the Patriots are in sole possession of last place in the AFC East.
Players likely to receive boosts in this week’s roster update include Matt Ryan, Le’Veon Bell, Terrance West, Brandin Cooks, Kelvin Benjamin, Cordarrelle Patterson, Allen Hurns, James Carpenter, Kelechi Osemele, Cameron Wake, Jurrell Casey, Fletcher Cox, Kawann Short, and Jason Verrett. Possibly on the decline are Jay Cutler, Tony Romo, Maurice Jones-Drew, Eddie Royal, Gabe Carimi, Brad Jones, Terrence Newman, HaHa Clinton-Dix, and Kenny Vaccaro.
A number of premier players sustained serious injuries. Derrick Johnson, Robert Mathis, and Mike DeVito are done for the year – coincidentally all having ruptured their achilles. Others like Jadeveon Clowney, Tyler Eifert, Jeremy Lane, Bryan Bulaga, and Evan Mathis will be out for extended stretches of time.
The latest Press Row Hangout welcomed in former Madden creative director Ian Cummings to discuss the projects being worked on at Zynga Sports 365. The first game, NFL Showdown, just released last week and a golf game featuring Tiger Woods is next in line (3:50). Attention then turns to impressions of The Golf Club (21:30), answering viewer questions related to Madden NFL 15 (36:39), and how the PRP Madden Franchise is shaping up for this year (58:08).
The demo for FIFA 15 can now be downloaded on the Xbox One and 360 and it will be out this afternoon for the PS4, PS3, and PC. It comes in at 3.07 GB and can be queued up for download on XB1 here.
Featured in the demo are matches with four minute halves, an Ultimate Team introduction with a few demo-specific squads to use, and adjustable difficulty level, cameras and other options. Eight clubs are included: Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Napoli, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona, and Boca Juniors.
[Update] As of Wednesday evening the demo for PS4 is out.
It’s the debut of “The Daily Dish”, a new video feature for the site that will appear every evening on weekdays and if warranted on weekends. There are plans to evolve the videocast into more but for the time being it will act as a recap of the days news with quick opinions and analysis and other observations in the sports gaming world. Everything you need to know will be compressed into just a few minutes with expansion on all that of course still available with the full articles and the regular podcasts and hangouts.
The Daily Dish for September 8, 2014 tackles NHL 15’s release and plans from EA Sports to add back some of the missing content within the next two months, NBA Live 15 facing a three week delay, exclusive bonus content for NBA 2K15 on PS4 and PS3, the top rated players in FIFA 15, the Madden Companion App that is out now, and more observations of what’s lacking in Madden after watching the first weekend of the NFL season.
NBA Live troubles continue for EA Sports who have apparently delayed Live 15 until October 28. The new date appears on the game’s official website – which previously promoted the original October 7 date – without the company actually making a corresponding announcement (it has since come down). Read more
EA Sports has now responded to the wave of criticism regarding missing modes and features in NHL 15. When the news was confirmed about EASHL and GM Connected being gone in the Xbox One and PS4 version fans of those modes were turned off from the product while others may have felt unaffected. Unfortunately that was only the start of what had been stripped out and there would be no getting around the lack of content and options by anyone.
The company plans to patch in a few of the missing features and have laid out expectations for the next two months. Read more
EA Sports has revealed the top 50 rated players in FIFA 15. The list is predictably led by global cover athlete Lionel Messi, and he’s followed by Cristiano Ronaldo and Arjen Robben. Only five players in the world come in ranked 90+ with Messi out in front at 93 overall. Read more
