The Daily Dish for 9/20/14
Having to be pushed back from yesterday the latest episode of The Daily Dish tackles a handful of topics. That includes the MLS expansion teams being added to FIFA 15, 2KTV and “Badges” for NBA 2K15, the lack of consistency now shown by EA in removing players from the Madden NFL 15 roster (Ray Rice vs Adrian Peterson/Greg Hardy/Jonathan Dwyer), and some of the movers in the new Madden roster update.

MLS Expansion Teams Being Added to FIFA 15 in November
The two Major League Soccer expansion teams that will debut next March will appear first in FIFA 15. Both Orlando City SC and New York City FC are going to be added in a November content update well in advance of the new season.
EA Sports has once before patched in an expansion team. The Vancouver Whitecaps were added in March 2011 to FIFA 11. Interestingly the Portland Timbers, who were also new to the league that season, did not get the same treatment as they weren’t introduced until FIFA 12.
What’s most curious about the situation now is that OCSC and NYCFC don’t have enough players yet to form a team for the game. NYC only has six players under contract while Orlando has nine. They’ll largely be filled out through the expansion draft but that’s not until December 10th. So it may be that their kits will be added to the game but there won’t be any use for them until later once the rosters are more complete.

That’s followed by a discussion with ESPN’s Gus Ramsey about Madden NFL 15. It then wraps up with an interview of creative lead Michael Saperstein about the mobile game Tap Sports Baseball.

Madden NFL 15 Roster Update #4 Details
The roster update for Madden NFL 15 following week two of the season is out for all systems. Check out the complete spreadsheet of changes made in the latest roster update here.
Players getting a significant boost in the new update include Robert Quinn (+1 to 97), Dez Bryant (+1 to 95), Devin McCourty (+1 to 95), Jordy Nelson (+1 to 94), Jurrell Casey (+1 to 94), Jahri Evans (+2 to 93), Tom Brady (+1 to 93), Michael Bennett (+2 to 92), Philip Rivers (+1 to 92), DeMarco Murray (+1 to 91), Cam Newton (+1 to 90) Darren Sproles (+3 to 89), Chandler Jones (+3 to 89), Ryan Kerrigan (+3 to 89), Antonio Gates (+2 to 88), Jay Cutler (+2 to 87), Mike Daniels (+4 to 83), Tashaun Gipson (+4 to 83), Malcolm Jenkins (+3 to 80), Mario Addison (+5 to 78), and Niles Paul (+5 to 75).
Among players on the decline this time around are Cameron Wake (-1 to 96), Geno Atkins (-1 to 95), Matt Forte (-1 to 94), Brandon Fields (-3 to 93), Joe Haden (-1 to 92), Patrick Peterson (-1 to 92), Kam Chancellor (-1 to 92), Troy Polamalu (-1 to 91), Dontari Poe (-1 to 90), Anquan Boldin (-1 to 90), T.J. Ward (-1 to 90), Alshon Jeffery (-1 to 90), Vincent Jackson (-1 to 89), Logan Mankins (-1 to 89), Ben Roethlisberger (-1 to 89), Marques Colston (-1 to 89), Pierre Garcon (-1 to 88), Justin Tuck (-2 to 88), Colin Kaepernick (-1 to 88), Matthew Stafford (-1 to 87), Trent Richardson (-2 to 78), and Matt Kalil (-4 to 76).
Surprisingly Adrian Peterson, Greg Hardy, and Jonathan Dwyer have not been removed with this update. Why Ray Rice would be stripped out, even going as far as to remove his image and name from Ultimate Team and replace it with “Baltimore Halfback”, but not these three is curious to say the least. Their transgressions were just as bad or even worse and they’re no longer on the active roster for their respective teams. If EA is going to make moves solely based on PR which that now appears to be then they need to be consistent about it.

The Daily Dish for 9/18/14
FIFA 15 gets the spotlight today in The Daily Dish as the game is out to play through EA Access on Xbox One and the Ultimate Team web app has gone live. Also discussed is the desync dilemma in Madden NFL 15 Connected Franchise followed by mentions of tomorrow’s 101st Press Row Podcast and a live Press Row Hangout.

FIFA 15 Ultimate Team Web App Now Live
The Ultimate Team web app is now available for FIFA 15 after being delayed from its scheduled release yesterday. It can be found at this link. The servers appear to be getting hammered and the website isn’t even loading consistently but it’s apparently there now so those who had been eagerly waiting will want to keep checking back on it.
The web app allows users to complete many of the very same tasks that are done in-game within Ultimate Team mode including setting lineups, the buying and opening of packs, and utilization of the Auction House. It’s only accessible to those who played last year and created a security question and answer through the game.

FIFA 15 EA Access Day One Live Stream
Now that FIFA 15 is out through EA Access on Xbox One I’ll be running some live streams over the next few days. The six hour time limit will make it difficult to do anything of substance, and since I’m buying on PS4 it doesn’t make sense to really dig into any modes that I’d later have to restart, so most of the play-time will likely be Online Seasons games. Feel free to chat along during the streaming sessions! They’ll be archived to watch later for those who want to check them out but can’t make it when they are live.
[Update] Couldn’t play online because it couldn’t find opponents or said there was a NAT issue (there isn’t any such thing). So instead the first stream was just a couple matches vs CPU. Back for more tonight and tomorrow.
