It’s certainly no coincidence that while NBA 2K15 struggles with its servers, resulting in inaccessible modes or some that have yet to function properly at all, that EA Sports has come out to proclaim their upcoming game will not experience similar problems. A few mentions from the company related to NBA Live 15 lately have raised eyebrows. It’s an area where they can take advantage but the same could have been said last year and they failed to do so. Read more
NBA 2K15 has been out for nearly a week now and there’s a lot it does exceptionally well. Unfortunately it is also hampered by widespread server problems that affect nearly the whole game not just online modes and other issues like many have had with the face scanning feature.
The experience then will vary from person to person depending on where time is being spent. There’s a big difference for those playing the offline MyLeague mode vs those who bought the game to play MyTeam or MyPark – neither of which has worked properly since release. Vote in the poll below and leave any thoughts in the comments. How have you considered your time with NBA 2K15…has it been more positive, mixed or negative?

A number of topics are hit on in the final Daily Dish of the week. First up is the latest roster update for Madden NFL 15 and that’s followed by an alert to the deal available just through the end of today for FIFA 15. Then it’s back to NBA 2K15 and its server issues with an explanation of why 2K Sports insists on tying so much of the game to their shaky servers plus a mention of pre-order bonuses coming through for those who bought digitally. Finally the new Press Row Podcast is out and look for a post on the site with that tomorrow!

The roster update that follows week five of the season is now available on all systems for Madden NFL 15. Check out the spreadsheet with the complete details of the update here.
Players on the rise include Von Miller (+1 to 97), Marshawn Lynch (+1 to 96), Eric Weddle (+1 to 96), Darrelle Revis (+1 to 96), Luke Kuechly (+1 to 96), Demaryius Thomas (+2 to 94), Justin Houston (+1 to 94), Philip Rivers (+1 to 94), DeMarco Murray (+1 to 94), Russell Wilson (+1 to 93), Arian Foster (+2 to 92), Tom Brady (+1 to 91), Andrew Luck (+1 to 91), Eddie Lacy (+2 to 86), Sammy Watkins (+2 to 84), Zack Martin (+4 to 83), Brian Quick (+4 to 80), Austin Davis (+3 to 78), Kyle Orton (+3 to 77), Branden Oliver (+5 to 75), and Andre Williams (+4 to 71).
Among those taking a fall are Calvin Johnson (-1 to 98), Jamaal Charles (-1 to 96), Tyron Smith (-1 to 94), LeSean McCoy (-1 to 93), Tamba Hali (-1 to 92), Kam Chancellor (-1 to 92), Patrick Peterson (-1 to 90), Aqib Talib (-1 to 90), Jahri Evans (-3 to 88), Michael Johnson (-3 to 88), Pierre Garcon (-1 to 88), Keenan Allen (-1 to 88), Alex Smith (-1 to 87), Colin Kaepernick (-1 to 86), Nick Foles (-1 to 85), and C.J. As with most sports games these days if you wait a few weeks to buy opportunities will emerge to pick them up at a discount. FIFA 15 hasn’t even been out three weeks but already it’s available for 20% off. Amazon has the game on Xbox One, PS4, PS3, 360 and PC today only for $48.
As publishers heavily push pre-orders and day one sales, along with a greater number of consumers going digital, games become even more front-loaded than they had been in the past. Sports games have always relied heavily on those early sales because they remain relevant only for their respective season lengths. That leaves retailers to attempt and generate additional interest after release in order to run through supply by offering deals such as this one.
The latest on NBA 2K15 is covered in this episode of The Daily Dish. There is now a mobile companion app out on Android for the game and a server status page to confirm that yes, indeed, the servers aren’t working properly. Then T.J. Lauerman (@ThatSportsGamer) joins me to discuss the Extra Life charity and his plans for the big donation drive this month.
