Expected out soon for the Xbox One and PS4, and already available for those on PC, the first patch for NBA 2K15 attempts to address some issues discovered since release of the game. After initially only mentioning that there would be a fix for people getting booted out of MyPark 2K Sports has now released a list of what else to expect from the update.
Given the timing it’s no surprise that the patch is essentially just implementing some quick fixes for mostly minor bugs rather than making any improvements to various aspects of the game. That kind of feedback-based update takes much longer to compile and execute. Server issues are certainly at the forefront of concerns right now but a patch wouldn’t be requried solve those problems. Outside of MyPark the biggest change is made to MyGM and MyLeague to allow for over 13 players on a roster during free agency. Read more
EA Sports may have avoided showing gameplay for NBA Live 15 but their commitment to the EA Access program means they couldn’t hide the game completely. Tomorrow I’ll be holding a live stream of NBA Live 15 running through the entirety of the six hours and in the process will have hopefully shown off sufficient gameplay and most of the modes.
Last year hundreds of people joined me in experiencing NBA Live 14 in a live stream that went on for over six hours. What would have been torturous otherwise was made fun due to the comments from and interaction with the viewers. So join in for some or all of the stream and make sure to comment or ask questions throughout. I’m expecting it to start by 2PM ET/11AM PT – or whenever the game has completed its download which could be earlier than that.
Make sure to subscribe on the Pastapadre Twitch Page. The stream will be archived to watch after if you can’t make it during the live session. I’ll then be following the Thursday stream with a podcast on Friday that includes Live 15 impressions and then a review of the game from the six hour experience on Saturday.
Two games received feature updates today and those are talked about in this episode of The Daily Dish. Patches for NHL 15 and The Golf Club have added features and made various improvements to the games but under dramatically different circumstances. Also previewed is the NBA Live 15 live stream which I plan to push through all six hours on Thursday, a recap of the latest Press Row Hangout, and a look ahead to Friday’s new Press Row Podcast.

If you’re a fan of hyperbole, hold on to your seats, because it’s “the greatest day in EA Sports NHL history” as one producer on the franchise exclaimed via Twitter. The update promised back when consumers discovered how many features were missing from NHL 15 – with long-awaited comment came a commitment to extensive post-release support – arrived today and apparently EA is super proud of themselves for it.
The patch delivers basic Online Team Play (only NHL players, lacking the ability to control goalies, and no way to play with friends) and an actual draft for Be a GM mode. It also provides some adjustments to gameplay and fixes to Ultimate Team. Read more
The biggest move that will take place in this week’s Madden NFL 15 roster update is that of Percy Harvin to the Jets. His attitude can’t cause headaches for players and coaches in the game, so he’s still the same dynamic playmaker on the field.
After week six performances players to look for on the rise include Tony Romo, Russell Wilson, Ryan Tannehill, Chris Ivory, Justin Forsett, DeMarco Murray, Sammy Watkins, Demaryius Thomas, Randall Cobb, Jonathan Massaquoi, Aaron Donald, Jason Pierre-Paul, Tyrone Crawford, Telvin Smith, and Phillip Gaines. Among those likely to drop are  Kirk Cousins, Jay Cutler, Brian Hoyer, Matthew Stafford, Teddy Bridgewater, Reggie Wayne, Jimmy Graham, Jake Matthews, William Beatty, Jordan Devey, Jared Allen, Luke Kuechly, and Antoine Cason.
In today’s episode of The Daily Dish there’s a summary of details on the latest patch for FIFA 15, a revisiting of the NBA 2K15 server situation which continues to disrupt experiences with the game for many, and mention of the new Press Row Hangout in which the panel discusses a variety of topics including the digital and “always-online” future of gaming that companies are attempting to push towards despite some consumers protesting the ideas.

♦Second Patch for FIFA 15 Already Here
To the surprise of many a new patch for FIFA 15 went out today. It was unexpected if only for the timing – the first patch went out last Tuesday. It’s available now on PS4 and expected out on Xbox One likely tomorrow.
This update doesn’t appear to be one that incorporates a great deal of community feedback and usually that doesn’t come around until early-mid November. Already there are some complaints about the lack of fouls being seen post-patch which many seem to feel has been reduced when the game really needed to increase them if anything. Otherwise there are some notably positive changes to areas like goalkeeping and the Legendary difficulty setting.
♦Adjustments and improvements to shooting and goalkeepers.
♦Added ability to call out the keeper in Pro Clubs.
♦Fix for instances where Player Instructions in Seasons mode were not carrying over into gameplay via Team Management.
♦Further improvements to Player Search in Career Mode.
♦Adjusted Legendary difficulty in gameplay.
♦Improvements to Goal Line Technology.
♦Fix for match length issues in FIFA Ultimate Team Single Player Seasons matches.
♦Updated real-world injuries and suspensions in Match Day Live.
♦Improvements to ‘Looking Ahead’ audio in Career.
♦Fixes to Player selection in Team Management in multiplayer matches.
♦Tuned player specific audio speech in all modes.
♦(PS4) Fix for fans experiencing stuttering during online and offline gameplay.
♦(XB1) Improvements to motion blur effects.
♦(XB1) Fix to display of FUT Legend players in the EASFC widget.
In the latest Press Row Hangout the panel reexamines opinions on the “digital-future” of gaming (28:25), as well as the effect that a game going completely or primarily “always-online” such as NBA 2K15 and Driveclub has on consumers (43:43). In addition there’s discussion on whether a subscription model for sports games still seems plausible (1:21:19), thoughts on the lack of a demo for NBA Live 15 (1:03:26), and our continued experiences with games like Madden NFL 15, FIFA 15, and MLB 14: The Show (opening segment).
