The latest Press Row Hangout was recorded live last night and the discussion centers on two primary subjects. The first is MLB 15: The Show (14:24) which had its cover athlete announced and first features revealed over the weekend. With those things in mind we go over what is most anticipated and whether it means anything that areas the game desperately are in need of improvement (RTTS, commentary, online) weren’t mentioned.
Attention then turns to NBA 2K15 (39:16) and the massive patch that released yesterday on PS4 and soon for Xbox One and PC. Response to the patch has been overwhelmingly positive with it noted that community feedback really does appear to have been taken into consideration and acted on – and in areas that aren’t just related to generating revenue.
A lightning round of sorts (54:49) closes out the show with talk of Bo Jackson being added to Ultimate Team in Madden NFL 15 and then reaction to The Game Awards show from Friday night. Next week’s Press Row Podcast will crown an actual Sports Game of the Year and the annual Pastapadre Awards will ramp up later this month.
A new gameplay teaser trailer just arrived for Super Mega Baseball which is set to release next Tuesday for PS4 and PS3. This is a game that hopes to fill a void in the sports gaming genre, which over the past five years has been slimmed down to almost entirely league licensed simulation offerings. Scott Drader, co-founder of Metalhead Software the studio behind Super Mega, was kind enough to answer some questions that I sent his way. Read more
There should be some movement anticipated at the top of the ratings in this week’s Madden NFL 15 roster update. Richard Sherman could recapture the 99 overall after going four games with as many interceptions (2) as catches given up over that span. A case could be made for Calvin Johnson to get back to 99 after a strong performance as well. Peyton Manning could drop below 98 now with the last six games not really justifying that high of a rating. He’s looked off but the run game has been able to pick him up.
Names to look for on the rise this week include Derek Carr, Le’Veon Bell, C.J. Anderson, Julio Jones, Doug Baldwin, Travis Frederick, Marshall Yanda, Jason Pierre-Paul, Fletcher Cox, Elvis Dumervil, Robert Quinn, Akeem Ayers, Byron Maxwell, Chris Harris, and Joe Haden.
Some of those likely to go down are Kyle Orton, Andrew Luck, Colin Kaepernick, Drew Brees, Matt Forte, Reggie Wayne, Jimmy Graham, Dallas Thomas, Lane Johnson, Randy Starks, Cameron Jordan, Leon Hall, Jason McCourty, Troy Polamalu, and Greg Zuerlein.
All the recent news for MLB 15: The Show is gone over in this episode of The Daily Dish. Also the massive new patch for NBA 2K15, the impact CM Punk signing with UFC would have if EA Sports gets him added to the video game, the latest Press Row Podcast, and a live Press Row Hangout scheduled for this evening.

Last night SCEA announced Yasiel Puig as the cover athlete for MLB 15: The Show. Today during the PlayStation Experience keynote the company made an appearance to debut the first teaser trailer for the game and a few vague details. MLB 15 will include enhancements to personality and emotion (Puig obviously meant to represent that) and licensed equipment.
The release is set for March 31, 2015 so they’re sticking with a pushed back date that coincides more with the start of the regular season – something they’re able to do because there isn’t any competition jumping out on the first Tuesday of the March.
